You could find a largish noisy relay and wire up to the original flasher to make more noise. Alternatively you could wire a larger warning light or buzzer up.

Or you could sound-proof the entire vehicle...

Pop into a motorcycle dealer and pick up a buzzer as used on bikes. Work well on Series LRs and HGVs and other vehicles with high ambient noise.

I think that a simple buzzer linked to the indicator relay will be the quickest cheapest option

Had this on my TR6, found the relay hanging in mid air on the wires. Fixed it back to a metal tab on the bulkhead and it immediately made it 100% louder.

I have a flasher relay/beeper on my motorbike so that I can hear the indicators as it's not a good idea to carry on indicating after you've turned on a bike !
Don't know if the relay would fit a defender though. I bought it from a website for a company called OOracing 2005 Td5 90 XS Steve |

Don't you have warning lights on your dash to show that they're flashing? a quick glance at them (at the same time as you check the water temp/oil pressure light/battery charge light... don't you????) would tell you if they're on or off.

Hi all.
I recently had a little work done on my Defender by an auto electrician. Afterwards I noticed that my indicators were noticeable louder, but everything in the fuse box looked normal. A bit of poking about showed that the indicator relay had shifted up a bit and was resting against the upper edge of the fuse box, which was amplifying the clicking into the dash. Reseated the relay, and sound back to normal. David. |
