Replacing a Td5 Alarm unit?
Hi, I’m just about to replace the standard alarm on my Defender Td5.
I have asked around and apparently the best alarm to fit is a Toad Ai606T5 Thatcham alarm. The problem is when I unplug the Land Rover alarm I can no longer start the vehicle , I’m assuming theses an immobilizer circuit running through the devise
Can anyone advise in what I need to do in order to totally remove the Land Rover alarm, do I need to short some wires together to complete a circuit?

Thanks

Contact a professional alarm company.

First its not appropriate to discuss on an open forum

Second I would only fit a decent alarm that is thatchman and to keep the rating, by a professional installer.

third you cant just short some wires its a professional alarm fitted Mike

Bit more than shorting some wires together - but not hard to remove the immo function from a Td5.

In saying that, there is more than one way to do it depending how far you want to go.

Even professional alarm companies don't know how to do it... which often means you end up with 2 key/alam fobs on Defenders.

You can get a upgrade kit to make a standard LR alarm CAT 1 - which means you just keep the LR key fobs... you just need to ask the right people Wink

Feel free to PM me for more info if needed.

Sorry to sound cynical, and my sincere apologies if this causes offence......but 1st post here and asking about how to bypass the immobiliser on a TD5?

I'm not sure you'll get much luck with answers here fella. Mark

There are 2 ways of not needing the LR key fob anymore.
1. The TD5 can be programmed in a way it doesn't need the keyfob anymore or
2. Bell auto services can do something with your ECU that it doesn't look for anymore for ths As10 alarm ECU so no key fob neede either. Roel
