So that's not a double din space they have in the dash then? ...
Just looked to be much bigger than a normal radio slot from the pics... Rog... The GREEN One... MY2016 Urban Truck Build Thread - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40548....al[/color] |

It's designed for the iPhone only so there is no need for Bluetooth. All of the iPhones main features are active when the phone is connected. (Navi , phone , messages , music and radio)

The parrot one is truly great. They also just announced their prototype next generation double din unit with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, DAB, OBD diagnostics built in via cable, built in NAV and included forward recording/dash camera! Not sure how far off though.... The alpine looks ok as you said, but for me just lacking BT. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

David
Yes BT would be good as I use Garmin app on my iphone for nav as it works great with my Parrot Asteriod I want to replace with double din unit. Alpine one would be good as I can add slimline Alpine amp I have behind the unit as it will not work with the Parrot. Decisions, descisions |

Yeah they're all good options.
I went for the parrot purely because say a year down the line i can just download the latest tomtom or spotify app etc, or really any android app, and because it was cheap to be honest! The alpine would probably be more restricted in capability but very well designed and reliable, and CarPlay is very cool. Just don't know what happens when uou need NAV but don't have signal? TomTom on mine has the data stored on an SD card rather than over the air. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

I'd probably agree with David here, if I had to choose it would likely be the Parrot.
My biggest concern with the current units is just how 'future proof' they actually are. Tech is moving so fast especially with Apple that it can leave you in either a costly position or with an obsolete unit. |
