Heater fresh air/recirculation selector broken

On the way into work this morning I have managed to break the fresh air/recirculation selector on the heater controls. I pushed it over to recirculate and there is now no resistance when selecting between the two and the heater is stuck on recirculate.
I haven’t had the dash apart before so I’m not sure how it operates but I assume it operates some kind of cable which could have popped off? Any pointers? Tom

Yes it's by cable, I changed one.
It will either be snapped or more likely bent so it doesn't go back into the sheath
.
Never fear though, a new one is about £8 and worth it just to swap.

This cable goes through the bulkhead and out to the intake ducting the top right of the engine bay.
If you look there you will see the same cable and a nylon plastic arm...

All you have to do to remove it is in-clip the cable outer from the retaining clip and the same for the cable core as it has a loop on both ends.

Trust me, it's a cheap easy swap, hardest part is threading it though and that isn't too bad even.

It may be jammed by a stray cable too which may have caused it.

Had this happen to me on the 90.

Turned out the dash end of the cable had become kinked as the other end had become stiff due to lack of use. Managed to get it straightened out without changing the cable

Mine did this, it bent and slipped off the hook. So being the man I am I stripped the dash out found the fault and forced a toothed washer on top and squirt wd40 down the sheath but one or two uses later it popped off again. So I lifted the bonnet and moved the lever to fresh air and haven't thought about repairing it since. Its been broken for over a year now lol simply not a feature I utilize despite the low cost and ease of the repair I'm not bothered about it lol

My cable has come off the selector and for the life of me cannot work out how it goes back on, just cannot get the eye onto the â€˜pinâ€™.

So managed to get it in but pops off every time recirculating is selecting which suggests cable not moving freelyâ€¦.. think it will be engine selected winter straight through air and summer recirculated for wifeâ€™s hay fever â€¦ if I remember
