Especially if you get the connector and link up the two or maybe even more and go for your own personal condominium. Foxwing(fitted to a Patriot rack) on the vehicle going out to Sweden with us in the summer and the Oztent will go too. I just love having the space and versatility of it. we've got a brownchurch rack with rear support struts fitted.
This it the 3rd defender it's been on over the last 15 plus years. Its still in excelent condition, no rust on the rack but have repalaced the brackets a couple of times when changing vehicle for a modist amount. it's a very practical rack carrying all our junk including surf boards, racing canoes, bikes and awnings etc, but maybe not as modern in shape as the Patiot - however for £250 it's been a really good investment. the rear struts spread the load down onto the main body a touch which probably improves the actual roof load a tad... I agree that the new racks are nice looking but I'd miss the funtionality and versitiltiy of the simple basket shape of the Brownchurch - let alone having more dosh to put into the tank for using the thing! just my thoughts! Just got back from trip around Scandinavia. Lets just say that the weather was variable from brilliant sunshine to raining cats and dogs. The foxwing was great in the rain. If space was tight the oztent was just placed under the edge of the foxwing without using the porch. Don't think I will get Barbara camping without foxwing and oz tent in the future! Me? Will use the foxwing and either a stretcher under it or small tent just under the edge of foxwing Brendan |
