I've never found the suspension to be that bad ref: spring rates, but a Fekete says a good set of dampers will make all the difference. Though, if the spring rates are too hard for you usage, dampers won't hide this. You can also fit an uprated rear anti roll bar to control the body roll a bit more... the standard front one isn't too bad if fitted. If your 110 hasn't got anti roll bars at the moment, it will have all the brackets so easy enough to fit. I can supply anti roll bars etc etc if required, with a bit of forum discount. Ian |

Thanks for the replies and offers.
She is a 110 XS utility and has front and rear roll bars. How can I tell if she's got normal or HD springs? How can I tell whether my problem is too high a spring-rate? Bilsteins are good shocks then? There are that many and so many people fit them I'm out of sorts. I assume Britpart, OMEmu, Terrafirma, etc. are nothing on Bilsteins for a regular vehicle like mine? Thanks Harvey |

Blimey Harvey...Question overload.....
I have a 08 XS that came with HD suspension, I admittedly drive mine like a go-kart and it handles exactly as I want it too and I feel safe and secure....The vehicle has further capabilities I am sure but they are above and beyond my confidence thresh-hold and that of my 'warm comfortable feelingommeter!' If you can say the same forget the shocks and look for and spend the money on something else. There's my pennethworth in an attempt to answer the lot!!!! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Porny,
Can you please provide a response to Martin to discuss your commercial interests. EDITED HG 10:00 060910 I have both a front and rear anti-roll bar on my Defender. I've spend about 5 minutes checking my springs and the only colour I can see is yellow all over the front two. JE have told me they use Koni shocks and up-rated anti-roll bars, but Koni do not seem to list anything for the Defender. Also It has been suggested that Bilstein will improve my ride, but the only items listed are a 'sport' which don't seem to imply they are ride friendly. As a side issue, is it over or under damping that is causing me to be unsatisfied with the ride? I feel she pitches and jars too much over bumps, I can't decide if this is because the shocks are not allowing enough/quick enough absorption of the bumps, or whether the shock is allowing the spring to return to quickly from a bump. Thanks, Harvey Last edited by harveyg77 on 6th Sep 2010 8:59pm. Edited 1 time in total |
