Telescopic LED arm

I am thinking of some side lighting for under the (yet to be purchased) awning, I d like to consider fitting a telescopic arm under my roll cage that has an LED (or LED Strip) so I can pull it out 3 - 5 ft for some down lighting, the LEDs are easy to find, but has any one done this or similar , and if so any ideas on a robust telescopic arm to fit to a roll cage with 1 kg weigh on the end, how about ?
