Only thing I've seen that comes close but wouldn't solve your particular issue:

No worries guys, seems I was just unlucky!
I'll just vaguely keep an eye on things down there and will clean it off a bit more. Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Supacat, what is that? It would at least stop anything working its way down the prop into the UJ / diff seal Cheers, David

David - it's a commercially available uj cover - although it just looks like a section of silicone hose with a reducer section in the middle finding the right dimensions might be quite a task.
The ones I saw were on EBay I think. |

A huge shrink sock would not unbalance the prop-shaft, if it exists of course... |

Thank you, that's exactly the Series One part I had in mind. It would actually be much easier to do now anyway since the front diff has the flat lower surface and the two unused threaded holes for the harmonic damper (as used on Discos etc but not Defenders). So a suitable flat plate bolted to the bottom of the diff extending under the flange would achieve the same effect. |

Yes I've had the same happen to me many moons ago. There were optional rubber gaiters for Series vehicles which covered the sliding joint, the instruction clearly stated the securing jubilees need to be set in opposition to each other to maintain balance. I'd seen the bolt on plates too. Anything fitted to the propshaft will need to need the balance issue addressed - those uj covers are a bit like tractor PTO guards..... Steve.

Thinking along similar lines maybe gaffer tape would work - although I think covering the uj might actually cause more issues than it solves? |

I have had this issue several times when fetching the hay in after baling.
The solution was cut a childs plastic football in half around its circumference, cut a hole at the top and slide it down the prop, (split the sliding joint) the ball covers the uj and the nose of the diff.
