Hi Rosco
That's a cracking looking truck. I like chequer plate wing tops after seeing strangers resting bags on people's wings. Would look good in black on yours. It's a personal thing as I like it on my 110. |

Steve, that's totally my thinking. I had the wing tops on my 90 and found them very useful. Even doubling as the occasional step ladder. But my only hesitation is what to do about the anodised finish chequer plate on the side steps? 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

I've got a Montalcino on order with black chequer plate wing and sills. Keep wondering if its the right thing. Thought it would make a nice contrast but have black pack already as part of it. Maybe ask dealer to show me car before they do it as its a dealer fit option. 2015 110 XS CSW Montalcino Red with Black Pack

I would leave the side steps as I've not really noticed a clash with all the black on mine.
Also they are an item that gets replaced if corroded under warranty at the three year service so If you paint or change the plating that's it. On the other hand for the sake of a few hundred quid you really should have it how you like. ( I know, that was as much use as a chocolate tea pot ) Steve |

They "say" its so you can see through the rear glass, and will be the same on all LR vehicles !! Now done mine
Will be fitted to mine, like all the rest,, Have left off so far, as some people recon it knows duel consumption,, 1000 miles so far, and not must difference from previous 2.4's !!
Now available from the stealer's in Sat Black (from the Black Pack) cost is not much more that buying no gen's and painting, was in two minds, so still have the orginals, Road BFG AT's tyres now on 18" Bowlers,, Off road will be on 16" TF Dakers
Again, all my previous one done,, as they always get used as work benches !! Top,, although expensive, have always fitted genuine one's, fit and finished so much better Jury still out on the side steps plates in silver California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |

No all good points Steve.
I think if I was going to go for the chequer plate on the sills it would be a different answer, but just wing tops the difference should be negligible. Acuss I would definitely ask to see it before they fit it. 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone 2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone 2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW |

Thank You
The 18" certainly change's the way it drives,, a lot more sure footed !! Down side thought !!! the amount of crude and dirt thrown up over the front doors, and rear wings due to the extra outset California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |

That red is nice. The bowler wheels are great. Now you said it makes it feel more sure footed. I think a birthday treat to self is coming,

Managed to get a couple of jobs done today.
First, off to the tinters to sort the rear door glass Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Sadly it does reveal just how dirty the car has become Maybe that can be a job for tomorrow. Click image to enlarge Whilst the glass was been sorted, I fitted the dust caps kindly bought by SWMBO Click image to enlarge Just need to find one more for the spare wheel now. And finally, managed to get down my mates garage and get her up on the two poster to adjust the steering stops. No pictures of that, but I wish I'd know about that little tweak when I had the 90. Wow, what a difference. I can reverse on to the drive in one go now!!! 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone 2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone 2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW Last edited by Rosco on 31st Jul 2017 7:58pm. Mate,
The Landy looks smart, but be careful with those valve caps.... I put some on my freebie 2 and they corroded on so much that I couldn't get the bu66er off and ended up needing a new valve...I don't know if they are all the same but the tyre fitter bloke told me never to fit them again. S'pose you could copperslip them or something. Wes Oh woe, oh woe My crusty old landrover, It will not go. |
