Front door stays
On mine on door the drivers side will stay open on the door stay most of the time but not the other on the passenger side.
Even a slight slope will make a difference too, nearly all other cars the door will stay open at a point on the support stay.
I'm guessing it's the pin loose but never been able to fathom exactly what needs tightening to sort it, if of course you can. Confused

It's a massive pain when your trying to do work on it and if you inside you've got the door leaning against you or the wind pushing it about.
Other than that you have to keep opening it time after time and it really gets annoying. Mad

There's a spring arrangement on the bulkhead which engages in a detent on the inboard end of the stay arm. Trouble is the dash has to come out (or at least be released and pulled away from the bulkhead) to get at them.

I usually tie a rope from the outside door handle to the front bumper or similar when working on uneven ground or in wind.

Not the easiest thing to access. Look under the dash where the stay disappears into. You can tighten it up inside there, but it is a b***h to access. There is a visible nut head and one under the trim across from that. These slacken, the outside visible one is easily done but it's the hidden one that is the awkward one. Get done on your knees and pull the plastic out with your fingers, look up and you'll see the second nut. A suitably bent spanner of the correct size is needed to access it. Enjoy Very Happy Could you post a follow up and let us know how many swear words you use getting it done? Mr. Green 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Does anyone know where I could buy this part from please, my drivers door opens to wide because the bump stop is missing.
The bracket with the vertical bar attached to it.

Failing that I might have to repair it

I had the bolts come loose ( the two in the pic above ) , tightening them fixed the door not staying open

Ok thank you I'll have a look, Thumbs Up when I compared one side to the other, I thought I saw what I thought was a bump stop or something stopping the door travelling too far past the vertical bar? I'll have a poke around Very Happy 2005 TD5 90 CSW XS

The above photo gives an excellent view of the two nuts that need tightened. This will get the door stay back in action. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Very useful having Keith's pic to refer to, as it's very difficult to describe in words! But on mine the passenger door wouldn't stay open either, so did some investigating. It's easier to get at on a Td5 (just has its own little plastic cover held on with a single screw). Anyway, I found that the bent 's' shaped bar that acts as a spring was too long and the bottom edge of it was fouling on the sliding track, stopping it from dropping into the notch when the door was open. So i just chopped a bit off the end of it and I also 'flattened' it slightly in a vice to give it more spring effect. Reinstalled and the door stays open perfectly now. It was one of my most triumphant Land Rover bodging moments! Thumbs Up 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Is there a notch in the roller? That would make sense, although mine is travelling past the retention/spring bar and all the to the end so opens too far, but it may be the same problem Thumbs Up 2005 TD5 90 CSW XS

Thanks chaps another task ticked off the list of things to sort out. As have found the bolts were loose but easy to tighten on a Puma providing you use a suitably cranked spanner and remove a couple of the dash mounting screws.

Yours does seem to be missing the bump stop as the roller should not be able to move much beyond the position your first photo shows. Part number is MWC5759. A chunk of thick rubber the correct size will be equally effective.
