New years day 2015 Defender outing
We are early starters, and this morning at 08.00 hrs the Mrs. and I took off in the Defender with a morning picnic to do some sightseeing at the other side of the lake. Crispy cold but sunny, and we covered over 200 km strolling thru some of our favorite villages in cantons de Genève and Vaud upto Morges. A little flavor here....

09.00 hrs stopped in the center of one of our favorite villages, Céligny, for breakfast picnic. No doubt some people were watching us suspiciously from behind the curtains. Laughing

It was a great day indeed. The 200 km we covered yesterday, even if the roads were dry and weather sunny, left the car covered with quite a bit of salt. So today the big cleanup, hot pressure shampoo for the chassis (not too close to not damage the Dinitrol), followed by a good professional carwash which we are lucky to have closeby, and then towel dry the entire truck. Treated the door hinges with ACF50, the towing electrics with WD-40, and then did the early January annual modification (as in pictures below), before putting the truck into dry covered storage for the next couple of days as forecast here is for milder temps, but with rain, which means a salty wintry solution on the roads for some time to come which is something I want to avoid. Prior to parking up the truck also filled the tank up completely with BP Ultimate as in winter I prefer to keep it full to limit the chance of condensation due to temp variations.

The annual mod changed the truck from this...

Only use WD-40 for inside the two towing electric plugs as it is a water repellant. And it keeps both 12N and 12S plugs as new already for years. Nowhere else on the truck I use that stuff. As said ACF50 on the door hinges today. Thumbs Up
