Progress to Date
December 2014

So I thought I'd keep a track of everything that we do on the truck and although it doesn't feel like we have done a lot, we have! The snorkel, steering guard, twisted re-map and sat nav were installed by the previous owner, so I'm not counting those. Admittedly quite a lot of the list below was done for us prior to delivery and when I look at the list it's no wonder she looks quite a different car to the one taken in P/X by SMC.

KBX Grille with SMC Over Land Badge
White LED Front lights
Smoked/White Side Repeaters
Gloss Black Over Land Bonnet Badge
18" Gloss Black Boost Wheels with Cooper Discoverer Tyres
White LED Rear Lights (Large Type)
Genuine Loadspace Mat
Genuine XS Side Steps
Genuine Fuel Cap
Tracker
Flatdog DRL Bumper
TGE Side Panels
Privacy Glass
Passenger Side Mirror Arm
Replacement Windscreen and Wiper Blades
Replacement Passenger Side Mirror Arm
Genuine XS Steering Wheel
SMC Over Land Graphics

To Do.

Speaker Upgrade - ordering today
Front Mud Flap - on it's way
New Key Fob - awaiting collection
New Seats - still trying to decide on which one
Leather Cubby Box
Leather Dash Parts
Alive Remap
Dynamat - although we don't find her too bad noise wise
Leather Gear/Transfer knobs

We also did OK selling parts from it too, there isn't much still to sell but we got £460 for the old steering wheel and Boost Alloys

Another job I've been doing on it is paint correction. To get it how I really want it looking is probably going to need some attention from a specialist, but it's certainly had a lot of TLC since it arrived and is generally all the better for it.

Catherine I think you are discovering that owning a Land Rover Defender product is a little bit like when you have a new baby, life is never the same again, and like a new baby they take over your life, drain your bank account and you never stop worrying about them or buying things for them. On the other hand just like with a new baby they give you so much joy and put a smile on your face and you cannot stop showing your new acquisition to all and sundry and never stop taking about it. Smile

Hhmmm, I think the wheels probably as they have had the biggest visual impact on it.

When I bought her the original order was for the car, plus KBX grille, LED lights and the badging. Unfortunately that didn't last long and even when we arrived to collect, we were making changes. The interior panels (I'm quite a fan of those and do recommend them) and steering wheel were late additions.

Manta wheels were an option and I do like them, but so many people have them fitted.

Guys I'm hoping for your advice.

The exterior is pretty much complete bar minor bits and bobs and general upkeep.

4 Speakers have now been ordered and I'm hoping will be here tomorrow or early next week.

So with this in mind it's time to move onto other interior parts as it's pretty much untouched. Originally I was thinking of starting off with the cubby box and leather dash parts, leaving the seat until the very end, but I think in all honesty it would be better to do it the other way around.

So I've got 2 or 3 options on new seats (Corbeau's, Genuine Premium Seats or I guess Exmoor's Premium Seats). The question is what to do with the old seats. All the old parts we have sold so far has either been in excellent or in good condition

The seats on the other hand are not in great condition, for instance the foam in the drivers side back rest has collapsed in 1 place and the seat covering is either badly worn or is filthy. My current thinking is possibly to sell them just on the basis of being for refurbishment. If that's the case how much would you advertise them for? 2015 Audi Q3 Quattro S Line Plus 184 TDI Stronic

If you are going to spend quite a bit on new seats is your vehicle going to be a keeper? If so knock the seats on, if you are unsure retain them for a while until you are.

A set of seats needing refurbishment......... I would hazard a guess at £100-£150 the pair maximum? That is only my opinion though based on an 'immaculate' set of 3 cloth ones from a TD5 being advertised for £250.

I think realistically it's going to be staying for 4-5 years K9.
