Probably best answered by the military and ex services personnel .
I'm off on a 5 weeks course in March . 4 weeks in Hertford and 1 in Poland .It's a Hostile Environment Close Protection Course . I am ex army but 15yrs ago so a bit rusty . I'v wanted to do this job for about 10 yrs and nows the time . At around £6k I'd better pass and start work either London , Middle East , States or anywhere really . Do any of the forum members have experience of what to expect ? Keith |

Hi Keith, may I ask if you've investigated any job opportunities too date. The CP-world is not exactly overflowing with job openings at this moment in time so the course may be something which you attend and then........who knows!! All the best, Andrew - Andrew - |

Chatting to mates in Afghan last year it seems theCP world is going a bit stale. The high paying jobs, £500+ a day are long gone. It's back to normal run of the mill stuff. If you don't have an "in" I think you'll struggle to get a job.
Are the course providers offering any promise of work? You didn't say what company you were doing the course with. Do they have a good reputation within the industry? What are their pass marks like? And what % of students go on to secure contracts. I'm assuming you have done a load of research before parting with a bucket load of cash 110 D250 SE HT 110 USW SOLD RRE HSE Dynamic Gone, wife killed it VOLVO XC60 R Dynamic with some toys Polaris RZR 900XP SOLD |

I have pals who attended courses (with the promise of a contract at the end) only for them to be told that it would take between 4 and 10-months for the security company to create a 'potential' opening.
It's OK being guaranteed work following the completion of a course but the respective security companies first need to win a contract of their own with a client before anything fruitful can come of it. - Andrew - |
