Bought a Belkin Iphone charger on amazon. This Belkin model is an approved Apple Iphone accessory, can be ordered from the Apple e-store here in Switzerland, but German Amazon sell the same at less than half the price. Paid less than €11 for charger and a very solid lead with iphone connector one side, USB connector at the other side.
Fits the Defender dash very well with its green led indicator, a solid piece of kit which does not warm up when connected. Works a treat. Didn't know my piano black centre dash panel is such a good mirror. Have to tell the Mrs I think. Saves me the expense to have to order a vanity mirror for the sun blinds You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

The Mrs and I've got the same belkin iPhone charger, except it's white with a blue light, and indeed I've had no bother with it.
I suspect my previous El-cheapo charger may have been responsible for the premature death of mine and my mrs's previous iphones. Both were displaying the symptoms as below link. Both were charged in the car using the same El cheapo charger on a long journey and both died within days of each other having bothe been previously ok. https://www.mendmyi.com/blog/2014/06/has-y...-fix-that/ Bought a pair of posher chargers, and touch wood, have had no problems. |

Great looking bit of kit Eric... Did you go for the 1Amp or 2.1Amp, or even 2.4Amp version?... Rog... The GREEN One... MY2016 Urban Truck Build Thread - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40548....al[/color] |

By the way, is a 2.1mA charger ok for an iPhone, or is that too much, and would a 1.0 mA be better?
Never even thought of that when ordering.... Eric You never actually own a Defender. The charger can't "push" more current to the iPhone, the phone will draw what it needs. The 2.1A rating is the maximum it *can* supply, not what it supplies at all times 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks Martin, started thinking about that when I read on here that someone had killed two iPhone batteries supposedly with poor quality car charger.

A standard Apple iPhone charger is 1.1A rated, the standard Apple iPad charger is 2.1A rated.
So if you would like to charge an iPad beside the iPhone, the 2.1A charger is your best choice. Not surprised with a cheap knock-off charger, who knows what voltage it is

It is also worth noting the 2.1A will provide a faster charging cycle, whereas the 1.1A is a trickle charge which is, ultimately, better for the longevity of the iPhone's battery... However, I would hazard to say if you need to charge your phone while out and about in your truck a faster charge will be more beneficial than a trickle, hence 2.1A is the better choice and will certainly not harm your iPhone... Not sure that an iPhone will detect the 2.1A charger and charge faster? Not an expert on that.... 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

We have both iPhone and iPad (Apple's own) charging units at home Martin, and the 2.1A iPad charger fully charges the iPhone in less than half he time it's own charger will... Rog...
