Weird Mamba antics this morning... :(
This happened to me just this morning... Big Cry

My Mamba did a weird number of cycles first thing;

It would start okay, but within 15-20 seconds this palaver went on...

Temp Gauge shot off the high end;
Rev Counter zeroed;
Battery indicator stayed on;
Accelerator did not work properly.

When depressing the accelerator it would not react as normal straight away, but when it did it carried on revving higher and then took ages to drop back down!

Finally cleared itself after half a dozen stop, lock, start routines only to then be left with the Amber Engine Check warning staying on... Shocked

Looking through similar posts I can see it may possibly/probably be an EGR fault... Question

But as it's the first real problem for me it's off to Nene tomorrow for them to sort - (they are picking Mamba up, as they advised me not to drive it over to them)... Rolling Eyes

sorry, just to be clear, I did not think anyone was tampering with the binnacle, but there is a huge connector on the back with a snap-down lock on the back of the binnacle, if this was loose then you may get unusual happenings.

interestingly, the binnacle is also coded / paired to the 10AS unit

Sounds more like an earthing fault yes .... hope it's not the earth for the ECU, a bad earth there often knacker the ECU! Sad Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Sorry, my terminology bpman, not yours, I am not aware of what went on before I acquired Mamba. But, since coming to me in September, I have certainly not ventured anywhere near the instrument panel... Embarassed

It is probably a bit too scary for me to even think about, which is why I am hoping Nene will sort it relatively easily! Whistle

Thanks for the reply Dave... Thumbs Up

Would such things just sort of happen overnight though - all seemed fine over the weekend?

I do have an UltraGauge permanently fitted, through an OBD splitter, but that would not affect anything mentioned would it Question

It's possible yes, Mine had TWO ECU's, both caused by poor earthing to ECU according to dealer, first one lasted 2 years, second one lasted 7 months Rolling Eyes

Doesn't mean that will be the problem with yours .... I'm just 'preparing' you just in case Wink Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Add a temporary Earth on top as the currentt one. (You can check it at the same time anyway)
Then see how it reacts.
Disconnect your trailer plug too if you have one, an Earth faukt there can cause all dash lights to light up!
Check the battery negative is tight.

Earth faults can do crazy things.

Cheers Steve - battery negative is tight and clean, trailer plug is new from pick-up!

Just checked and it fired up and started perfectly with no sign of the Amber Engine Check light now... Shocked

This could be very irksome... Whistle

That's odd! Mine (td5) for the first time this morning when I turned the ignition to let the glow plugs warm, the Rev counter went up to 50 for a second then went back down Confused After that it was fine and ran fine, but I've never had anything like that happen before.

i had the same problem, i took out my start relays, and sprayed oil on all the conections, also pinching any terminals in the relay holder that felt loose, also I ran a new earth from under the seat direct to the battery. Never had the problem again.

@Will.I.AM - Are the start relays under the steering column with all the others over the top of the fuses Will? ... Whistle

Just been for a spin and a fill-up and everything is fine now... Big Cry
