It depends how many holes you want to drill but I always think they look convenient fixed to cargo restraint systems on the side panel of a 110. I think there are some pictures on the mud uk website. 2002 110 td5

In next months LRO magazine it looks like there fitting a no holes required mount to the side of the chap with the G4 defender from the patriot roof rack
Or you could put them on the spare wheel with a custom mount Defender puma dormobile camper |

You already have a lot of weight up top, so some possible suggestions.
Waffle boards are heavy especially when full of mud, am guessing could be 20kg+ apiece 1) Put a false floor in the rear load area, chop 200mm? off the length and slide under the false floor. 2) Mount on rear spare wheel, but consider some extra support. 3) Since you are running a pre 07 vehicle, mount them on the bonnet close to the bulk head. Think that would be special one off brackets 4) Mount them at the front but underslung from the roof rack. Brendan |

been there, tried most options, they need to be easily accessable and not make everything muddy when you have used.

1) have that and it's already full: poles and extras for foxwing, chairs and wrenches and stuff.
On top of tbat there's a alu plate, on top of which I have the travel boxes and recovery gear. I currently have the waffles under the boxes, but when dirty it becomes a bit of a mess. 2) I want to move the shovel on the wheel as it's a branch hook atm. 3) sorry, but it's a 2011, so no flat bonnet. 4) no room as they are the thicker HD kind (green), approx 1,5m long. I'm playing with the thought to either mount them on top as I'm going to built an treeslider to prevent branches getting stuck between the tent an the cans, but again, extra top weight 
Other option is a thin drawer under the boxes and on top op the plate, but rather have it outside. Corrent layout: if you look closely you can see one under the black box. My ass is in front of the other. Click image to enlarge PS, I have a spare wheel carrier planned with hi-lift mount to get that thing also out of the car. Will remove completely when not greenlaning to keep it from rusting up. The idea is to have quick and easy access and not getting my gear dirty in the car. Is it not possible to make a bracket between the roof and the roofrack? I don't know if you have enough clearance there. Roel

I put my WB in a couple of drawers as per the photo. The drawers are removable so if/when they get muddy I can take them out and wash they down. It's worked well and keep the weight low down.

A wing tank on RHS would add about 40 litres of fuel A wing tank for water on LHS is about 40 litres. A replacement main tank is about 120 litres. That would get rid of need for jerry cans. OK neither is a cheap option compared to a couple of brackets but something to consider?? Brendan |
