Got mine sorted now, £14 for not one but two keys cut.
Seems to have been done well and they work perfectly.
If it was the dealer it'd be £36 for two. Shocked Shocked And that's just for cutting.

what did you do about the remote? I had thought the immobiliser wouldn't work without it.

Got a new one, for what I've got main dealer would have cost almost double.

I paid around £140 for:
2x ignition keys
1x new fuel cap and keys
1x fob

Main dealer prices for all this:
£258

So long as the person cutting the keys knows how to setup the machine then the keys should work perfectly. When they fail to ensure the ears on the keys are setup identically is when you encounter the problem of needing to pull your key out slightly to get it to work or it doesn't work at all as it cannot get the cuts far enough into the lock.

Keys and fuel cap from Dan @ Duckworth parts and fob from Gary @ Alive.
The new style fuel caps are like this:


As you can see they have the retaining strap, I notice the locking key rotation is halved too making it easier to lock and unlock.

Going back a few years now but the dealer used to be able to cut keys from a Vin number and did not require a spare key as a template. They used a strange looking tool that was a cross between a vice and a pair of nail clippers and the cutting was done by squeezing the 2 handles together like a pair of pliers. Obviously a v5 and other proof of being the rightful owner was required. I had a few sets done that way and don`t remember it being all that expensive! There used to be a paper tag tied behind the dashboard that had the key numbers on it! Hopefully LR no longer do that on the latest models! Very Happy

I think you don't have to have a key ads template at the main dealer through the various codes in the ECU etc etc.
You would however be in a right quandary if you lost all your keys and fobs though!
Mine is not lost just anywhere but in the house somewhere and for the life of men haven't found them in two years. Rolling Eyes
So this was why I decided to get these now as I only had one set, if they disapeared or my 90 went walkies then I wouldn't have a spare set to produce to the insurers.

Equally I've got the newest style fuel cap and keys though, so a bit of an upgrade. Whistle
