For the 526? They are available to use with it, I didn't for one reason the price. If it wasn't for that I would have.
one of the bonuses with the KVT 526 over mine which is the 729 is the UI is a little more modern but the same layout, variable display colour from colour pallet. (Not pre set shades) My HU also has a blue light on it as well as green to match, ideally I'd like green only which you can do with the 526. Finally, the 526 is as one unit without an external brain which mine has. If you have BT / Nav they have their own boxes though but you can easily position them like I have. Double DIN has some very good points too and I'm not condemning but the dash price is massive which is the major factor for me. And the main part I don't like is the switch relocation. Each to their own though. I'd switch to the 526 but the change isn't justified enough for me, for some reason they've discontiued them now. This is either because there is no iPhone 6 direct control and an upgrade is coming, or concentrating on 2 din only. Only time will tell. Sound quality and power is excellent, the clarity if phenomenal especially on highs. |

The Kenwood is an ancient bit of technology. For something more modern you could look at the pioneer avh-x7700bt. It has only been out for a few weeks unlike the Kenwood which is over 7 years old.
If you are comfortable with technology, you can get your android or iPhone to connect in car mode so the phone can be controlled using the headunit screen. No need to buy a separate Bluetooth module and if you have a data plan on your phone you can use Google maps for navigation. The phone software extends the ability of the headunit so you can use features like voice commands. Because the phone is connected to the internet, it can display weather information on the HU screen as well as message alerts or calendar events. It will even make an attempt at reading out your text messages so you can keep your eyes in the road. http://defender90xs.blogspot.co.uk/ |
