Cheers Alan , the rack is 2.8m I brought mine from a guy that builds rack/tent systems and he uses Patriot racks, mine was a prototype, was a display model used at billing in 2008 and then sat in a workshop for a year until I brought it. If you brought a 2.8m one from patriot the only difference would be the legs, just as you have said they would be in pairs on each side.
The rack could go back an inch and then it will be flush with the rear, but apart from that mate it’s a 2.8 as just measured it so the photo may distort it a bit. Standard rack will fit straight on with no probs. I had to cut down the (non standard) legs which came with mine as the rack was a bit toooo high, then had some 20mm packers made up, some longer bolts and hey presto! Not bad for £400 on ebay and £20 getting some packers and bolts, just need to powder coat the packers now. Brilliant strong rack, but very heavy, Flat Dog ltd UK http://www.flatdoguk.com/frroofrack.htm were doing Front runners at billing show for £650 inc the vat. Not heard any one have problems but a lot lighter and if you can get it at £650 a good few 100 less than a Patriot. Tack |

Belongs to my dad does that, broke down and he got a Freelander to use whilst it was in the garage. After being with the Freelander for a couple of weeks.... "I wish I'd test driven one of these before I got the Jeep" |

Having been inspired by wyvern on here, we got the new rack from Brownchurch. Galvanised and black polycoated - no rust here thank you very much! I love it. It might be high, but for me it's the original Land Rover roofrack. It's as solid as a rock.

I live 2,5 hours far from Garda lake, but if you pass trough Frejus tunnel on your way back you will pass near my home.
Unfortunately now I'm working in Greece and I will be back for 2 or 3 days at the beginning of September (no vacation this summer... ) If we shall meet, I'll offer you the best craft beer of north west Italy!! Matteo Defender 110 Td4 SE MY 09 |

Robo, We leave UK 14th Aug head toward Nurburgring for the 15th then down through Germany to Austria, Italy around the 19th-20th via Dolomites (Gardena Valley) down to Lake Garda Up to Switzerland and then into France, going to go to Val d lsere off road centre and stop off at Chamonix. Still need to sort some rough lanes out, but late days at work seam to be taking up my time Have a little list of place we want to see |
