Rattle from rear brakes
Can anyone be kind enough to tell me if there is a solution to the rattling rear brake 'issue' with the Puma 110 yet?

I have searched the forum but couldn't find any obvious reference to a solution.

I have a significant rattle from mine which stops immediately if you apply light pressure to the brakes; it isn't really a problem but it would be nice to stop it - I could then hear all the other alarming noises that the vehicle probably makes!

Thanks in anticipation!

i had the same problem with mine last year, the noise used to drive me crazy. Dealers tried new pads, new springs, copperslip and even changed the calipers - in the end one of the proper engineers that works there madified the pads - hey presto the rattling stopped. He seemed to think that most of the later defenders had rattling brakes but not everyone complained about them.

Do you know what he actually did to the pads?

Apparently he applied small blobs of weld to the back corners.

I'll have to get back to my dealer and be a bit more insistent - with the state of our local roads and the windows open in the nice weather the constant clatter is driving me nuts...every time it goes in for other warranty work or a service I add the problem to the list and every time I get the 'land rover haven't registered a fix for it yet' nonsense 1953 80
