My15 carpets
Still trying to sort out a loadspace covering for my on order new 90. Can anyone who has a my15 90 XS station wagon tell me wether the carpet option gives carpet in the loadspace and front, cause I'm sure somewhere I have read that it only gives carpet in the back and still has rubber trim in the front like the standard trim, which would be ideal for me. I've been down to the dealership today and they don't have an XS in to have a look at. 15 plate 2.2SW XS

If you opt for factory carpet it will be everywhere.

That's why I opted out of it, I'm sure I read somewhere that the front had rubber trim, must have imagined it. To order the carpet parts for just one wheel arch side costs more than the factory fit option without the other wheel arch and floor piece. 15 plate 2.2SW XS

Factory fitted carpet covers both front and rear everything

The only reason I went for the carpet option was to cover the rear arches. As well as protect the painted finish the carpet helps to cut the noise from wet roads, which is now bearable

If my understanding is correct, on MY13 SW XS defenders there was not a carpet option LR were just giving a rubber trim, if so did this cover the loadspace area, and if so does anyone know the part numbers for those bits?

I'm after a rubber trim throughout, but as a last resort rubber front and carpet in the loadspace, I'm just shocked at the prices for these bits aftermarket. 15 plate 2.2SW XS

There has always been a carpet option, from the moment it was not standard. Most people did not pick up on it.

Just wait till that carpet gets damp and starts stinking.

Don't see the point of having carpeting other than for a very minor contribution to dampening the noise levels.

Zero regrets at just having specified the rubber mats in my 14MY SW - says the man who has just cleaned out his vehicle after a couple of weeks of wet muddy feet going in and out..

I don't really want carpet in the back, just want something to cover the bare metal on the wheel arches between the rubber mat I have for between the arches, and where the window trim comes down to. I just wanted something off the shelf rather than have to make something fit, I haven't ordered the carpet option but was beginning to think I should have, but if the carpet covers the front as well I'm glad I haven't ordered it cause that wouldn't last long at all with me before it was trashed.

I'm sure however if rubber trim was supplied by lr for the rear, even for a short time in my13, it must be possible to buy this trim from somewhere as a ready to install part. Just need someone who actually owns one of these to confirm if lr actually did trim out the loadspace cause otherwise it is just a lot of speculation! 15 plate 2.2SW XS

I opted out of the carpet option for the same reasons, I suppose it depends how the vehicle is used. Is far more practical without carpet, but considering a large percentage of Defenders aren't used as they were designed to be they probably don't see much mud or dirt Laughing

Would the exmoor trim sound deadening load space kit suit? rubber, protective and has a go at reducing noise.

I have a 15MY Utility on the way and, like you, I am looking at options to protect but also make for a more comfortable passenger area for longer runs. Exmoor carpets for passengers and then the rubber load space kit perhaps.

I'm going to be putting Dynamat in mine, so need something to cover it over in the back.

Site sponsor LRI solutions have a rear carpet: http://www.lrisolutions.co.uk/index.php/la...arpet.html

They do a 110 version as well as full carpet sets.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks Martin, hadn't looked at them, will be a lot cheaper than buying genuine parts. Why don't one of these companies produce a rubber version, there must be a market for it? 15 plate 2.2SW XS
