SMC Over Land Defender
Ok so as some of you may remember I originally posted that we were going to be buying a Defender 90 from Nene Overland, but last Monday we had to pull out of the purchase. I think it's only fair and right that I say Nene were 1st class about this and refunded the deposit extremely quickly to us.

Fast forward 5 days and the reason for having to pull out of the Nene purchase had resolved itself AND our 63 plate RCZ sold, so we had to move quite quickly and I did almost go back to Nene but decided that I didn't really want them to think oh god here she is again. To cut a long story short, I had a recommendation from Gary @ Alive Tuning to chat to Andrew @ Spectrum Motor Centre in Chester. For those of you who don't know who they are, they build the SMC Overland range of Bespoke Defenders. Gary assures me that SMC are very picky over the used stock they sell.

They had a Santorini Black 90 Hard Top on a 60 plate with 37K and a whole host of extras and whilst more money than the Nene Truck it was 3 years newer and had 13K miles less on it. It's got a full Main Dealer Service History from the local Chester dealer and YES we agreed to buy it and YES it's having some modifications. It will come with a full 12 month warranty, Waxoyl and 6 months tax.

Spec includes:

Pioneer Sat Nav & Speaker Upgrade
Twisted Map
Black Checker Plate Sills & Wing Tops
Stainless Steering Guard
Snorkel
Full Overland Badging
KBX Gloss Black Grille
White LED Lights Front & Rear (Larger Type on the Rear)
18" Gloss Black Wheels with Cooper AT3 Tyres
DRL Front Bumper
Privacy Glass
Genuine Heavy Duty Rubber Mats
Genuine Rear Floor Mat

We have plans for other bits and bobs but for now that's how it will be supplied. I'll be selling the 16" Silver Boosts with Conti Tyres. When they sell we will probably re-invest towards leather trim/seats, or do side steps and a Momo Wheel.

As soon as it's completed. I'll post some pictures.

Congrats on the purchase, does the defender ready have the twisted map? I really would recommend elsewhere, and seeing you've already been speaking to Gary @ alive that would be my choice. (which it was and can't recommend him enough)

Yes sorry I should have explained. It already has the map on it and I've already had a conversation with Gary about it. I'm not sure who will have created it for Twisted though, I have tried to research that this weekend but not had any success.

Our plan is to get Gary to do a new map for it.

Sounds like you picked up a winner after all Catherine... Thumbs Up

Congratulations on finding a decent sounding almost fully tricked truck... Whistle

Any idea when you will be taking delivery, aside from after all the add-ons are sorted?... Whistle

Well that's a good question.

It was going into the bodyshop for some light guards to be removed, apparently the way they were fitted meant some bodywork is needed.

It then has to go and have the chassis treated and then back to the SMC workshop for other bits and bobs doing. I'm guessing and it's a real guess that probably there will be a days work in the workshop?

That being the Wheels, DRL Bumper, Privacy Glass and LED's. I think it also is awaiting a new registration from DVLA as it had a private plate on it, so goodness knows how long that will take? I'm hoping that perhaps next Saturday we are taking the trip up to Chester.

Smile

You know the chances of this thing seeing off road action are probably quite slim.

I've just come in from 40 odd miles of laning around Marlborough and the plain... not a scratch in sight!

(plenty of dirt though that'll need washing off)

O/T sorry Catherine...

@ Walfy... Well, I had a job in town, then one kinda in Marlborough, so it would have been rude not to grab a costa then bimble through Savernake and across the areas.

Lots of twits playing in the hole by the knife edge in the CCDA, chavv'd up disco's etc.

Still a few green people milling about too, some MAN's and rovers.

in all I only did 37 miles... that's from my house and back, so not a huge amount achieved, but the sky was nice and clear and the scenery nice, so all was well.
Enjoying a G&T now.... work phone turned off... Rolling with laughter

Nice. But be careful..... You'll have the forum fashion police on your tail for not conforming to the "true" meaning of a defender.... Can't be shiny or blingy.... Must be utilitarian! Wink

I like it except the mirrors. Thumbs Up
Like the tyre compromise, bigger alloys but ATR type tread and not slicks.
