the only thing you need to watch if your supplying your own parts for a garage to fit is if anything goes wrong with those parts you will need to pay them again to fix it then try to get money back for the extra work from your parts supplier and that's never easy , if the garage supply and fit there own parts and something goes wrong its then down to them to sort it out . we get a lot of people do it and love it because it takes the warrenty on the parts away from us and on to the owner all we need to do is warrant how we fit it not the parts I know some people do it to save money etc or so they think there getting better parts , but not always the case and can be false ecomony just say you want genuine parts it wont be a problem for most garages ( ok they might cost you a bit more ) just an example , other day merc comes in for service , car is 6-7 years old , customer supply there own genuine parts said it cost him about £140 , we had already ordered a service kit for it , opened the merc parts all marked mann and exactly the same as our mann parts , but ours would have been £100 cheaper I know this is not the case with all garages , there is good and bad in every trade |

Cheers for the replies. In that case I will send the friction pads back.
As for parts wise I have supplied Clutch kit - Valeo Gearbox - ashcrofts Gearbox - release bearing clip Transfer case - Disco one Hand brake drum shoes - DefenderBits Transfer case gasket set. So....pretty much most of it! Fingers crossed it all goes well. The mech doing it is a friend of a friend, who has been doing his Landy for a while. 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |
