They’re not as bad as you guys have made out!
I have always had a softspot for Defenders and when I saw the X-Tech 110UW limited edition in Nara Bronze a few years ago I tried to order one, but there were none to be found.

I then put the idea of a Defender on hold until I heard that they were stoping production, and wanting one of the last ones but not wanting to risk missing out on a special edition run off model, I went for one of the first MY15 ones.

Placed the order in July and finally after months of trepidation it arrived on Thursday afternoon.

Went for Scotia Grey (new for MY15) which I ordered unseen so was very high risk but wanted something a bit different to the other Greys out there and unfortunately they don’t do Nara Bronze so I had to forget that idea.

Added the black pack, clear LED rear lights, front X-Tech style grill and had it sprayed to match the X-Tech style (black light surrounds, body coloured grill), premium leather (black / lunar as I thought the other colours were a bit ‘lairy’ for a Defender), tow bar, and replaced the tyres with General Grabber AT2s. Also added KBX grills on the wings and RH side.

In the months leading up to the delivery, I‘ve been checking out the internet and started to worry whether I’d made the right decision, BUT they're not as bad you guys have made out:-

o The intercooler hose hasn’t melted (yet!)

o There is no rev drop

o There is no ‘kangaroo’ – If I snatch the gear from 1st or 2nd then there is a slight judder, is this the ‘kangaroo’? I found a slow considered gear change is very smooth – a bit like my old Morris Minor or MGB Roadster.

o It was hooning it down on Friday morning and there isn’t a leak. Although when you stop, there is a comedy Niagara Falls down the windscreen from the water off the roof.

I feel like I’m missing out, my vehicle seems to be perfectly put together and I have nothing to moan about!

It's already carried a huge load of stuff in the back for my daughter's 5th birthday at the local Village Hall and the dog loves it in the back, much more room than the Mrs's Evoque.

Also, I have seen 4 Defenders so far on the road and everyone has waved at me – it feels good to be driving a car again where you are part of a ‘club’. This will now be my 4th such car (Aston, MBG & Morris Minor being the other 3)

Just finding any excuse to drive it now.

Unfortunately the light doesn't show up the colour that well which I'd recommend - a sort of greeny grey. Haven't seen any others in this colour on the road.

Looks superb

The forum often highlights the negatives as that is when we all need help - no one needs help with a perfect vehicle Thumbs Up

Just enjoy I have had years & years of happy motoring with defenders, just looking at some old photo's today of me a lot younger with defenders 671 WMH a 1957 series & PUO 853M a 1973 series

Happy days if you have never owned a defender they are one car that is never just a car - well for me anyway Thumbs Up 2020 P300 HSE

You got everything you wanted .......
Except that it's not a final end of production model . So will you be trading it in in 12 months time for another ?
There won't be any " shortage " of vehicles available nxt yr as many talk about .

Good question. If they do a 5.0 S/C version like some of the rumours then I'd have to go after one of those (although the Mrs would go ballistic!). If its a 2.2 Puma with a body kit / fancy paint job then I'm quite happy with what I have.

Congratulations and well done

I've had mine a few months now and the only issue I have is the Rev Hang but as mentioned if you drive accordingly it's fine.

Not saying that makes it right but it doesn't ruin the drive

The water running off the roof is comedy but the difference being that it stays on the outside on my new truck

On my 98 300tdi you get an interior car wash each time you break hard.

Truck looks lovely by the way. Hope you enjoy it. MY2015 110 Urban Truck Expedition Spec

I ordered mine in August; its still yet to arrive. Hopefully this will be a good heads up as to what to expect; nice to see some positives but i also wont like to tempt fate for my own Laughing
Well done on the colour!

Any accessories/purchases on the horizon?

I picked up my new silver utility from Conwy Land Rover on Saturday and they had a couple of pre-registered vehicles in the same colour-scheme as yours (that greeny-grey with the black pack) - what a fantastic looking combo! Great choice, I was quite envious!
