1999 Defender 110 Td5 SW Caledonian Blue

R380 gearbox noise

Recently, I have noticed when in 5th and accelerating I can hear what sounds like a vibration type noise. I have removed things like spare change etc from the MudStuff tunnel tray and its still there.

First move is to replace the oil with some fresh MTF94 and I have also thought about putting in some Slick50 type stuff (not sure if advisable or not)

Is 5th on a R380 known for noises? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Well gearbox noise is confirmed. Gearbox went pop on the A494. Waiting on flat bed taxi

and a new gearbox...

You still got 3 1/2 months off it.
