I have heard of USB sockets causing radio interference, however I thought that the Blue Sea ones conformed to an American spec about radio interference. However when I just had a quick look at the soec I can not readily see any reference to radio interference suppression so I may well be mistaken on that one..

We have just got back in from travelling in the black 110 with my iPhone being charged via a non Apple lead to a Blue Sea twin USB. No interference with the radio. That Blue Sea socket is in the cubby box and both positive and negative leads goes straight back to an auxiliary fuse box.

In white 90 have the Blue Sea dual USB where the standard 12V socket is and again no radio interference.

So I do not think that the cause of the radio interference is endemic within the Blue Sea dual USB.

Can not comment about other makes of USB sockets however I would suggest trying a completely separate positive and negative wires from fuse box to the sockets.

You can get noise suppression filters, sometimes it's caused by cable runs following each other especially power cables rather than crossing at right angles.
It's particulary true of power cables of high consumption.
I'd imagine there is something on the market to sort out the issue.
The HU Earth could do with checking too.
Premium HU's have their own USB connections that can allow functions to be accessed and charge at the same time.
Trouble is that tech changes so fast HU's have a lag to keep up.

I get interference when using my dual blue sea USB adapter with various USB leads.
My blue sea is mounted in the Mudstuff dash pod. 1999 Defender TD5 110

2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 USW Loire Blue

Funny old world; my Blue Sea USB twin socket mounted close to the radio on the side of my tdci console, makes no difference at all to the very good radio reception. Powered from the lighter socket too I think. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop
Now a 2013 110 USW too.

Filter seems to have done the trick. I have three USB power lines:

1) Dual USB socket for charging things - this has built in step down voltage
2) USB cable for Satnav charging - this has the internet bought step down box
3) USB cable for dashcam - this cable came with its own step-down voltage box

Filter is on the last item - seems to work as I have great radio reception now

Will have to check if the other devices also need a filter but all seems okay for now
