When you downloaded and opened the app, did you to enable the location service.
Also have you synced your device with iTunes using the USB cable. In iTunes once you do this you can access the menu scroll down and select Memory-Map on your iPod once you have done this you can drag-n-drop your maps and folders into the list. |

^^^agree, in iTunes the maps are just drag'n'drop, so should be a simple process.
What isn't working...? Cheers Simon |

When you downloaded and opened the app, did you to enable the location service. Yep
Also have you synced your device with iTunes using the USB cable. Yep, about a dozen times so far. In iTunes once you do this you can access the menu scroll down and select Memory-Map on your iPod once you have done this you can drag-n-drop your maps and folders into the list. That's what the instructions say and, indeed, the map is visible in my iTunes file transfer box on my laptop BUT the iPad is not receiving the transfer. Furthermore, although the App is on my iPad, the iPad is not 'receiving' the serial number of the software, the Great Britain 2014 1:50,000 Topo HD is not appearing in a list of available options to 'authorise' and all-in-all I'm losing the will to live... I have a friend who makes a living from IT and I've handed it over to him and we'll see what he has to say about it when he's had a chance to get to grips with it early next week. I'm perfectly prepared to accept that it's 'Operator Error' (I'd be surprised if it wasn't!) but the written advice I received from Memory Maps had a list of 32 separate steps telling me how to transfer OS 2014 HD onto an iOS device which failed at step 6... 32 separate steps to transfer an out-of-the-box piece of software and a map onto an iPad doesn't strike me as intuitive. |

It sounds like the process has changed, will be interested to see what the fix is.
I wonder why Mem-Map make things more complicated with each revision..! Cheers Simon |

It's no easier with Android I can tell you, but I would think on Apple it really can be a PITA! I think Memory Map are a little over protective about the use of their software/maps - stupid really as pirated versions work extremely well without much of the licensing hassle I seem to struggle with every time I update or flash my device.
I like Memory Map but believe there are better products out there now, unfortunately I spent a small fortune on buying OS maps for Memory Map so I feel locked in now. Some friends who use other products gloat about how good theirs is but I'm happy with mine; it works (once you've sussed out what needs to be sorted first), shows me a proper OS map and pinpoints my location on it. Not much else needed really. Persevere, check through support forums and good luck |

Loaded all the maps of Scotland on my iPad for the MudMaster navigation, took around 5 mins with iTunes.
Don't forget to hit the "Sync" button after you've added the maps. You only need the .qct files really. Are you sure the maps haven't transferred ? Tap on the folder icon (bottom, left on the map view page), tap "More Maps" and select "Al Maps on Device". It's also worth tapping on the "Map Types" button and turning off "Mobile Topo" as that tends to throw up requests to connect to the map store when ever you want to choose a different map. There's very little you can't do with MemoryMap when it comes to route planning and navigation, it just takes a bit of getting used to sometimes. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

It is the way it is because of Apple's InApp purchasing cut.... If you bought the maps through the App, Apple would take 30% which would mean that the prices would go up.
Instead MM makes use of the file managing features of iTunes to allow the maps to be copies onto the device and hence accessed by the map. It's been a long time since I did my phone and iPad, but it memory serves me correctly, connect device to iTunes, select the device, so to the Apps tab, select the app, scroll to the bottom of the screeen where you can then load the files. Just select the maps files and upload them - took me a couple of minutes..... 2013 Aintree Green 110 Station Wagon SX |

As above really but a couple of things, you can always call tech support - they have been helpful when I messed it up.
Also if you've recently upgraded to ios 8 then there is a chance that that you might need to re allocate one of your licenses as the upgrade made my ipad appear as a new device and it didn't show the maps even though they were all in the right place. Tech support helped with that, even though I've had it two years - no questions asked. Thanks for all the helpful tips guys (and yes, I've recently upgraded to iOS8) but I'm leaving it in the hands of my friendly IT Guru to sort....
I'll feedback which particular stoooopid thing I did/didn't do as soon as I know! |

One tip that may help... When I transferred all the maps to my device, I still could not open themn from the app - or even see them in the map list! I had to navigate to the folder the maps were stored in using a file/directory explorer app and open the map file directly, then Memory Map software knew where to look and all my maps were then available. Why it wouldn't recognise the maps even if I directed the location within Memory Map I do not know but this is the advice I got from tech support and it worked for me.

Well, time for an update.
Successfully installed and working after uninstalling software from laptop and App from iPad then re-installing. Apparently, the wife's laptop I used to load the Memory Map software onto didn't have iTunes pre-installed so when I first installed Memory Map there were a number of 'drivers' that went looking for iTunes and couldn't find it so instead of letting me know that iTunes should be pre-installed, it just refused to work. I obviously installed iTunes on it about 2 minutes after loading the Memory Map software but apparently, I should have installed it first! I'm an Apple man myself but the wife steadfastly remains a committed Windows user....don't ask. Anyway, Memory Map were very helpful and sent me the 32 step sequence required to transfer OS 2014 onto an iOS device and I reprint them here for anyone facing a similar issue. Transfering OS 2014 HD onto an iOS device Create a folder on your PC called Memory-Map Mobile Maps. Download an overlay file from the 'attachments' section below and save it into the Memory-Map Mobile Maps folder Open Memory-Map European Edition Press OVERLAY > IMPORT and browse to the Memory-Map Mobile Maps folder Double click on the file MM 2014 25K Regions.mmo Right click near a route leg for the area you wish to transfer and select Maps at Cursor > OS 1:XXK Great Britain HD 2014 Right-click a leg of the route and select Enclosed Area > Send to Mobile Device Memory-Map will now calculate the file size of that Click […] and locate the Memory-Map Mobile Maps folder. Click Ok – The file transfer might take a while depending on the size of the area. Press Map > Map List > Refresh Map List Press Remove All Press Add Folder Browse for the Memory-Map Mobile Maps and single click on it Press OK Place a tick in Load all maps now, Search sub folders, and clear all previously loaded maps Press OK Double click on the map and press Map > Edit Map Properties You can now rename the map area using the name field to something meaningful such as Southern England HD for example Place a tick in Allow Calibration Press OK Single click on the route leg and press Map > Boundary from route Close the Memory-Map European Edition Navigate to the Memory-Map Mobile Maps folder, in here there should be a .qct and .qc3 file. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your PC. Open iTunes > Click Apps > scroll down to File Sharing > Click Memory-Map In the Memory-Map Documents window click Add… Navigate to the Memory-Map Mobile Map folder and select the .qct and .qc3 file. Let iTunes copy over the files to the device. Disconnect your iPhone or iPad from the PC and start the Memory-Map app. Press Maps > Maps Types > Show All Press Maps > More Maps > All Maps on Device As I said, hardly intuitive, is it! |
