Every year on a saturday beginning November Autobritt hold an open door day when they will install the winter wheels, when you can have breakfast, later in the day have some raclette, and you obviously also can test drive their different models,...
They had already marked their work order for my truck with "not running through the car wash street after the job is done", which in my case would be no improvement at all, and they know that very well. Here some pictures of installation of my wheels, very good experience as always, they used plenty of copper slip on the Wolfs, and they put the summer wheels into nice plastic bags. Before I could specify it they put the prescribed 2.3 bar front and 2.9 bar rear for these Nokian winter tires... Also interesting to see a present days LRJ showroom. Not many Defenders there anymore, that's for sure... But Philippe (the sales rep from whom I bought the SVX) told me that in Jan/Feb they will have the "Heritage" limited edition in the showroom, but immediately added that while it has various options, it will not be as extensively luxuried up as the SVX. Later in 2015 there will be several more limited editions coming, and also a final edition, but details of those are not even known yet to the dealers. Will go back at lunch time for the raclette I guess. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Copper slip.... No, did not bother. This year it was very much focused on Rolls Royce and its 110th birthday. And for second year in a row, only British cars 20 years and older were allowed on the showground. Have to wait another 14 years for that to happen to the SVX I guess.

Yesterday it was the traditional open door and winter wheels installation saturday again at my dealer. The raclette and wine were very good as usual.
No Defenders anymore at the forecourt or in the showroom, but for the first time saw a LWB FFRR ready for delivery. How you will park something as long as that, or how you will swing open the second row doors in a underground parking remains a mistery to me. Saw several negociations taking place with new FFRR buyers. The Jaguar side of the dealership was kinda quiet, and for the Morgans it is not really the season now either. I did spend some time in a very nice Morgan Plus 4 on display. Was offered to take a test drive, now how am I going to resist that? Interesting to see for the first time here in Geneva a real Heritage in their workshop parking lot waiting a few more modifications to be installed. Already registered and on the road for a few weeks, nice truck overall, but was a bit surprised by the apparent poor painting of the grassmere green wheels. This one looked like the wheels did not get much more than a very thin layer of final gloss paint. The nice thing with these special editions in Switzerland is that they all get delivered standard with a LED mini MagLite installed under the dash. So yesterday it was the spring doors open day event at our local JLR dealer. The Saturday where the workshop is only taking appointments for winter wheel to summer wheel changes. An occasion for them to attract good crowds with the entire day some entertainment, breakfast service in the morning carrying over into BBQ at lunch time under a marvelous early summer sun. It obviously is the perfect occasion for them to showcase their current models line up to the crowds.
On the Land Rover side, no more Defenders, no more D4 of course, but the entire current RR collection and also a D5. On the Jaguar side the current collection, F, R, whatever type... I am not so familiar with the Jag family of cars,...... yet. It was the same as I have seen on occasion of all previous dealer doors open events, a lot of people at the LR/RR side of the showroom, only few people wandering in between the Jag models at display. That is until Mrs. ericvv walked in....... She was showing worryingly good interest in a particular Jag model there. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I see it coming already, the service desk said that next time that I will bring the SVX in for service they will provide me with an F-Pace as a replacement car. Mrs. ericvv couldn't care less about any of the current LR/RR models, but when we walked out again after breakfast, at least she showed some interest in one Land Rover model which was on the forecourt as a Legend.... Click image to enlarge Now, do I like the F-Pace? Yes, I do. Eric You never actually own a Defender. Morning Eric, there was a review on the latest series of top gear, an f-pace, Bentley 4x4 and another I can't remember, f-pace looked good.... question ... what does the f stand for?

The "F" stands for Frigging trouble for my wallet may be heading in my direction.
Now, I must admit that I like that SUV from all angles. Clearly the Jag chief designer first name is not Gerry. Top Gear, does that really still exist? Broadcasting must be limited to you islanders, unheard of here on the mainland after the disappearance of the legendary trio. Big mistake BBC, you are going to miss a lot of foreign royalty income. The new series is actually quite good, Chris Harris & Matt the white are beginning to shape the new show, unfortunately with all this brexit stuff (like the Swiss and their wine), we'll probably be keeping TG to ourselves
Good luck hiding your wallet from mrs.VV |
