Not sure on an IAP but there was:
IAT - Inlet Air Temperature or MAP - Manifold Absolute Pressure |

The one in the inlet manifold is (as far as I can tell) a mixed Temp and Pressure sensor. The one in the airbox is a Barometric Pressure sensor used to detect altitude differences, where the inlet one is used to monitor manifold pressure (boost etc and temp of course).

i have an induction kit so this sensor is just sitting coiled up in fresh air now, it has never affected performance or running...

Yeah, I've just been speaking with Pete as BAS and he's been extraordinarily helpful and he's basically said the same.
Though we've gone through a few ways of keeping out of harms way from water/muck, so I think I know what my route will be. Will.I.AM, is your's generally an on-road truck? Would you mind taking me a few piccies of your set-up? |

I believe that if it's correctly connected,it 'll work ok,no matter the location of the sensor.
PS and OT Problems arose when mixing EU2 with EU3 sensors (and fuel maps) but i think they also had different wiring.. |

The problems where when people put NNN ECU's onto pre-NNN vehicles as they used the 3 wire, not the 4 wire like the NNN system did.
Simply fixed by getting the 4-Wire sensor and running the extra wire down to the ECU (Though obviously need the airbox lid to as the mounting shape changed). The NNN didn't like it when you tried to plumb it into a 3-Wire set-up IIRC. The 4-Wire is the same as used on a good few MG/Rovers, but with the additional prefix of 'L' at the end of the part number, so not sure how it differs to the MG/Rover item if at all!? |

Probably doesn't differ much, would be interesting to try one, don't underestimate the importance of the sensor mind you
