Hi Geoff, just out of interest, how much did she go for? I may be moving away from the badge for a while but need to scrape together £45K. It is really hard to judge how much these cars go for.
Cheers, Glyn |

Before getting into Land Rover I was crazy about my fast cars... but being a lowly Cpl, in UK I had no chance of getting a supercar... who hasn't dreamt of owning one?.... When looking for the Defender I had a sneak peak in the Audi showroom for a RS6 BUT then I saw a R8.... Price to me would have been £98K... I though WAY out of my price range.... but with finance and buy back I would be able to own it for a year at £1000 a month, and they would give me £3-5K back at the end... but it got me thinking Nissan GT-R, has the looks and the performance of a supercar but the top of the range one would cost me on the road £45K... and would be worth £40-45K when it comes to sell in a year. Just thinking about doing it whilst I can before family, kids etc where I know I will be back in a fender. Glyn |

Guy i work with has a GTR Glynne....bloody quick but savage depreciation, i think i would be inclined to buy Porsche 911 or similar for the badge factor...you cant put your keys on the bar with a nissan.....people may think you drive a micra.
Still think your defender is cooler than anything you have mentioned mind.....dont wate ya money, trust me ive been there You cannot teach stupid people to do clever things |

I know what you mean Steve, but it would be all about forfilling a dream than anything else. New on the road in UK is £56-60K where they sell for £40-50K after a year... I can get it for £45K so would loose only a coupe of grand in a year at most.... TAX is free, and fuel is 40p a litre so all the down sides to owning this car in the UK isn't a problem..... as for the Porsche/ Nissan thing... not bothered. My old Rover, sripped out, 300+bhp and a modded g-box would happily cruise past 170mph and a top of 185mph, and as a result I had loads of strange looks from people with 'high performance' cars as I trundled by, but I don't want to go back down the road of no luxury and race suspension etc as drive is spoilt.
Performance wise- to get the same specs out of a Porsche I would have to go for a 911 GT3RS which would cost me about £90-100K!!! (and it is a little slower than the GT-R with no luxury). Glyn |

I have the Bathurst VXR8, and think it's the best value for money on the market, it's now over 500bhp and takes five in comfort.

Good choice with the rice burner! Only thing to watch out for is the prohibative cost of parts. IIRC the pop up bonnet once deployed costs Ks' to replace/repair.
If I was you Id go for classic porker, you wont lose your money. Performance wont be that much less. Pimped black '07 Puma Equally Pimped Black Pick up Truck Rollin deep |
