Load area coating/carpet/material
Have my 110 soundproofed (dynamat) and now looking to tidy up the rear a bit (the carpets have had it, they've had seats fitted through them, dogs sick on them and many bits where they're torn.

I'd like to get some durable and tidy looking covering on a big roll that I can use the carpet as templates for, any suggestions?

Was thinking carpet but doubt I could do a tidy enough job etc so maybe some closed cell foam would be good? I'm not bothered about soundproofing particularly, just want something cheap & fairly durable and definitely dark grey/black.

Dynaliner would be good but it's waaaay over budget for what I need it for! Cheers, David

I put the genuine LR 1 piece rubber mat in the back of my 90HT, it fits well and looks tidy, wasn't overly expensive.

The ribbed one that goes over both arches?

Yeah I had one in my 90 but this is for my 110. For a 110 Land Rover only do the single rectangular one that sits between the floor between the arches, which I have. It's mostly my arches that I'm bothered about because they look very tatty. Cheers, David

The problem is I have stepped arches (where the forward facing seats go) - 90s don't have this. Also I think it would need cutting around where the Middle row seats lock into the floor.

Overall I don't think it'd look great and they're not exactly cheap either.

Landy Andy - chequer plate looks an interesting option. How well does it bend/mould around corners etc? Cheers, David

There's quite a lot of options like this http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&...1374051141 on eBay.

Has anyone used anything like this? Cheers, David

Similar to Landy Andy in my 110 SW. I stripped out all the carpets, bought a roll of black chequer plate rubber of ebay, cut it to shape and fixed it with spray on carpet adhesive. I cut it and fixed in pieces, rather than attempt to bend it round corners. At the joins I applied black silicone sealant and 20mm aluminium angle at external corners.

Because I have wet dive gear in the back, I wanted something that would be reasonably watertight and able to be cleaned out with clean water. I fitted a length of angle across the load bay, under the dog guard, to act as a barrier and to retain water in the load space. I also replaced the trim at the rear door with a stainless one.

because i am on the other side of the world I dont have access to take a photo, but it really looks smart and is very functional.

Have a think about this stuff. It stretches to allow fitting around arkward shapes and is what can trimmers use.

Cheers, another good option. Doesn't mention whether or not it's waterproof though, just says 'moisture resistant' which to me implies no? Cheers, David

Machine mart do 'ribbed' workshop matting on big rolls- Its pretty much the same as the stuff used in the back footwells of non-carpeted 110s when they leave the factory. Its cheap, easy to cut, hardwearing and looks smart when fitted well.

I have used black silicon round all of the edges except the floor mat-so I can take it out and sweep the back out periodically. I have used aluminium edging strip on the top of the arches- looks well and takes plenty of abuse.
