2011 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Stornoway Grey

On K9's diagram, the picture shows the optional switch with a wire running to a "Existing common wire " on the left of the picture, what is an Existing common wire ?
Is it a live or an earth or?????.

Well people , she is all done and dusted, wired up and working

This is the kit I got from e bay.......

Really impressed to be honest, waterproof connectors, everything either wrapped or heat shrunk, full case covering the actual runs of wire, in like a tough but flexible pvc tubing.
Relay and switch already pre wired, ( which helped a dumbass like me no end

)
The kit I got was a 3metre kit, but they also do a 4 metre and others also.

I ended up routing it externally , through the grommet carrying the cable to the alternator (the large one at the front of the battery box, just about where your right heel would be ) then cable tied it to the alternator cable and along the top of the chassis rail, then up the bulkhead, popping out under the heater box, hid it nicely under said box, and washer fluid bottle , then over the top of the rad area/slam panel.
Before I routed it though, I cable tied the two wires together and also included a seperate wire , which was going to be the high beam trigger splice, this way it was all fed through and routed as one cable, so no need to repeat with the trigger wire.

I spliced that in to the Blue/Grey wire on the n/s loom, then onto the relay.
Then I tested them and ............

me pink, they worked

!!!

Oh yes ! They actually turned on and everything

Just need to go and align them, though that will have to be another night, as SWMBO has a wobbly lip

Not quite sure why, as last night whilst I was rolling around under the car in 1 degrees worth of heat till 12.15am , she was watching tv lying on the sofa in the warmth , one day I will work out just how that logic goes

So all in all, the wiring kit above seems great value, idiot proof and great value.

Thanks very much to all that assisted, linked diagrams etc, would have been knackered without it
