Steve E, I think you summed up what I mean.
An Exige will do everything the Morgan will do and then some..
A Morgan is for the more distinguished motorcar enthusiast, don't get me wrong, I love Mogs, I'm just not ready for one.

I had an MG Midget in my late teens Laughing , though cancelled that image out by buying a Westfield !

I've had a Morgan Plus 8 for 25 years since the age of 40 and all that time I've also wanted a Defender. Done the Porsche, Maserati and others. I am keeping the Morgan but now is my time for a Defender - before it is too late! Thumbs Up

I too own and run a Morgan (Plus 4 4-seater, Duratec 2 litre engine), so here goes:

Your Series Landie is perfect. Keep it.

A BMW engined Plus 8, Aero etc. will depreciate only slightly less than any other sports car.

Rover engined Plus 8s are appreciating in value, you’ll already have to pay forty grand or so to get a decent one. Get good advice as to what to look for from your local Morgan club, and buy one now.

Many thanks for the replies.
I am likely to either keep the 110 in 2016 or get a Plus 8.

I am likely to go for a late 1980s 3.5V8 Efi model that has a galv chassis and Cuprinoled ash frame since the BMW (post 2012) one will be out of my price range.

Reading some of the online reviews on the Plus 8 has made me laugh. Many talk about the basic accommodation and agricultural feel etc. but when I met Morgan owners a couple of weekends ago at a monthly bacon sarnie/quiz meet at the local dealership, they all thought I would find a Morgan to be the height of luxury after my S2A. My Plus 8 (actually it now belongs to the other half) which we've had from new 25 years ago has a 4.6 TVR engine and gearbox in it with a low ration rear axle with a quaife lsd and upgraded brakes and suspension. Not much on 4 wheels can keep up with it up to about 70 mph when the lack of aerodynamics takes over. Terrific fun. Ignoring my many modifications a standard old Plus 8 will at least hold its value and more than likely appreciate. Once over 30 years old they increase in value even more as they are snapped up by Norwegians as they avoid huge import tax at that age. Advice offered if required.
