Spot on Thumbs Up

As to shooting forums, like anything online they range in quality both in terms of presence and user, most can be found by typing a few keywords into the search engine of your choice Smile Steve.

In my very humble opinion, you won't go wrong with any Beretta.. A good Silver Pigeon is my choice. A good well balanced easy handling multi-choke gun which comes in many guises according to taste and how deep your pockets are. Beretta also do some very good semi autos for vermin/pest control and also some disciplines of clays..ideal for most sporting and skeet particularly. Used to use a semi auto for game but some shoots are quite snobby and that type of gun is frowned upon.

Good luck with your shooting,,, we're as friendly as Landy owners too. Thumbs Up

Thanks, confirms the way I was thinking, I like the Silver Pigeon a lot, and have used one at Grimsthorpe, think that's the route to go. Seems to be good gun shops in Spalding and Woodhall Spa so I will have a look around and see what they recommend on fitting plus compare new vs used.. Thanks for getting back

The guys at the shooting ground we use were excellent, had a massive choice in my price range and were more than happy to let us try them all out to see which one fitted the best, ended up with a cracking deal on a Beretta 682 Gold E as we mainly shoot clay. Don't get out as often as we'd like but there's nothing better for a bit of stress relief!! 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon

If you apply for a SGC [Shot Gun Cert] you are investigated by the FAO and have an interview. Also need to ensure all security aspects are met.

The SGC also lists all guns. There are specific rules you need to understand. Lots on the web to review and would suggest you contact your local FAO. They are human and all the ones I have met have all been very helpful and friendly.

I didn't know that the guns were listed, you learn something new every day. www.td5.org

I've only been in Lincolnshire 18months so already had my guns etc so have just used Derek Lee for cartridges. Always seem to have a decent amount of stuff in.

Prior to moving I always used Nevilles in Alfreton, if you're ever that way I can definitely recommend them.

A pal of mine lives in Woodhall Spa and always uses Derek Lee too but I'm not sure if that says anything about the shop in Woodhall though.

go to a gun shot, and just pick up and try and few, see if you can find a clay range where you can do similar. buy what fits and works with you within the budget. Cheers

A reasonably busy forum:

http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/

To the other poster with new SGC, get some lesoons under your belt until you have a consistent gun mount and then get fitted for the right gun in your budget. Wish I'd done that!

A less busy forum but useful when starting out is:
