Well, time for an update.

Note the time delay......

Had an letter from the third parties insurance company in September accepting responsibility, engineers report wrote off my vehicle in October.

Had a low settlement offer last week, I did a small amount of research, asked for a larger amount and the final figure was increased by £2000.

I've bought the Cat D salvage for an acceptable figure.

So, does anyone know of a TDCI or TD5 CSW being broken?? Sandy

Seems the way to go with Defender claims, buy back and repair yourself. What sort of figure does the salvage work out at in terms of % of realistic value if undamaged? Andy

Rubbish day on Thursday.

I was stationary, indicating right to turn when I was hit from behind by a Ford Galaxy.

You'll notice the bike. That was hit on its back box by the galaxy as it swerved, knocking off the cars LHS wing mirror.

The motorcyclist was a very lucky bloke.

I'm waiting for the damage assessment, however, new rear crossmember, new rear tub, wheel carrier, rear door and rear right side panel seems to be required. My thoughts are it will be close to a write off on a 2002 110.

Any thoughts or advice?

To be fair though that rear X member looks rotten and the damage may not have been as bad if the X member was in better nick Smile Graham

That's true, I would have been very unhappy if I'd replaced the x member before the shunt though.

However, it's done and dusted now, HD crossmember here we come! Sandy

Why not stick a galv chassis on it as it will make it last a lot longer and will be worth a lot more if you come to sell.

That's what I am doing next year as mine has had a new rear X member recently by p o but the chassis is going in the centre, it is repairable but really once you start welding them you never stop so have decided on a galv chassis Smile Graham

Well, strip down started in November with some good news, rear door was found to be serviceable after the spare wheel carrier was removed.

More good news, I've found a rear wheel arch assembly complete with wheel box and fuel filler already spot welded in.

Blimey, Mr. Green envious of your workshop space! Was tinkering out on the street Sunday afternoon here in Chur... Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz
Brought the 90 home from Switzerland ...

Dang! Nice to see you're starting to get the truck back to working order. Keep sending us updates, some of us may need the information someday. Hopefully not though.

Is there anything we can do or add on to the truck to prevent such damage? Bumperettes?
