Rusty 2.4 Diesel fuel rail
Evening All,

My fuel rail is quite rusty on a low mileage 2010 2.4 Puma.
Everything else in the engine bay is in pristine condition.

Couple of questions:

Is this normal for the rail to rust ?
And is it ok to let my OCD kick in to treat the rust and paint it ?

Cheers
Mark

there just bare metal and do rust

I don't think I would bother to remove it , bits like that are best left alone unless you have to dismantle for a problem , can't see the point in risking getting any cr@p in the rail or pipe to injectors

just spray it with something to protect it

I treat most of my 110 bolts, fittings, winch, side steps etc with ACF 50 Thumbs Up

Wee bit of wire wool or emery cloth and then a blast over with ACF 50 would tidy it up 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon

I used a rust converter and painted it in Situ with Chassis black, also regularly spray with ACF50.

Looks OK, by no means concours but tidy enough

I just gave mine a wipe over with a oily rag when it started rusting, seems to cover the metal nicely and 12 months later its still stabilised.

No doubt ACF 50 is better, but if you don't have any , an oily rag is fine for the fuel rail. it's never going to rot away, but getting it oily makes it look better than rust!
