I have one if these leads (similar large grey plug) that came with an Alpine stereo taken from a 2014 model Defender. It didn't fit the ISO connector for my 2012 model so I have it available for anyone who may find it useful.
I can pop it in the post, first come first served! |

Hi Tony, what was your solution to fit the 2014 Alpine head unit to the earlier ISO wiring loom? did you find a suitable connector? Just ordered an Alpine head unit from a 2014 XS Defender to put in my 2011 Year XS station wagon. Just wondering now what lead/s I am going to need !! Any info would be much appreciated.

Up until recently the connector listed for the 2.2 Defender was for the Ford Fiesta. The connectors fitted, but the pins/wires needed re-locating to put them into the right location.
Its good there's now an off the peg alternative. |

After a bit more searching I think what I need is an Alpine 16 pin square black connector to twin DIN adaptor. That's what I have ordered of fleebay. Once the Landy arrives I will be able to see if I was right, or if it is not as straightforward.

Having just removed a factory fitted Alpine (2013) and replaced it with a Pioneer I think you should be OK.
The adapter in this thread will fit a Pioneer but will NOT fit an Alpine, the plug for the radio is totally different. Posting an update as it may help someone else contemplating the same head unit swap.
Removed the factory fit head unit from my 2011MY XS station wagon today and replaced it with the 2014 spec Alpine unit. A 16 pin BLACK Alpine to ISO adaptor from fleebay was all that was required. The adaptor had the two ISO sockets into which the two ISO plugs on the Landy wiring loom fitted perfectly. The aerial on the original unit was a clip on type connection but it was fitted with a short length of COAX which was terminated with a conventional female aerial socket. The car aerial plugged into this socket. The Alpine has a conventional aerial socket on about 6 inches of cable, so easy to unplug the original car aerial and connect to the Alpine. The Alpine needed a Bluetooth remote mic, also bought off fleebay for 7. It has a 3.5mm mono jack plug on the end if anyone is wondering which type to get. I routed the mic up to the bottom right corner of the dashboard, just to the right of the speedo. There is a piece of black trim between the steering column trim and the speedo / rev counter binnacle. I removed the right hand torx head screw to release the trim and tucked the wiring behind it, leaving just the mic sticking out at the right hand edge. The mic picked up my voice fine whilst stationary without the engine running. Will test it in anger on the next run out to see if anybody can hear me over the wind/tyre/2.4 diesel noise |

Old thread revival. I got hold of the Alpine replacement for the standard fit Defender head unit. This is the CDE-173BT.
I found that this unit came with an adaptor that had 2 ISO plugs that connected to the 2 ISO connectors of my td5 loom. Only difference was the switched live and permanent live were wrong way round.. Just wondering now what's the best aerial to use?? |

Completely understand why Admin changed my original post. Same thing applies with the P/N and I'm too used to habitually posting eBay links. Another option to get around it would be to buy male DIN ISO. connectors and hardwire / solder and headshrink and then all aftermarket HU's will plug straight in. I believe that the Sub has an additional loom and connectors separate to this look.
This loom in this thread is specifically for the Head Unit only. This is presuming your talking about the LR factory sub unit.
