I think your find that isofix isn't just the seat that makes it suitable for isofix the car normally has a mounting point in the floor

Try MAXICOSI, (MAXI-COSI?) Family Base 2. Family base 2 is the iso fix base. It may or may not be possible to retro fit the mounting point to your Land Rover.
I checked with Maxicosi rep and she said the Defender 2nd row, left and right side only. So not the centre seat, and not the 3rd row seats.

She said she had a client with a range rover, who could NOT get the Isofix retro fitted to her wagon by the dealer.

But, Maxi cosi also have a seat belt secured base for their seats, which I think is a convenient option. Fit the base with the seat belt once, and clip in and out the child seat as required.

The seat models that fit both the isofix and the belt mounted FAMILY BASE 2, are PEARL and PEBBLES. One is up to a year old, and the other is 1-3 years old (child age i mean).

Seat belt secured base =£90
Iso fix base =£140
Pebbles =£150
Pearl=£150
Cost of retro fitting Isofix mount by competent person=£?

All priced up today at BABYs ARE US, but others supply as well.

hope that helps

Edit: both Pebbles and Pearl ARE compatible without the Family Base 2, in the 2nd row left and right sides. This is done using the seat belts alone. Again, info from the rep. Some cars seat belts wont fit round, but the Land Rovers will.

I can't imagine any seat manufacturer has the budget to type approve (crash test) an ISOFIX solution for the Defender.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

The rep showed me her database, apparently they have.

Edit: I suppose the Database is only as accurate as the person entering the info. She pulled the info straight from her PC in front of me, and that was a few hours ago. When I got my Defender from new, I have absolutely no idea if Isofix was an option, as my only child was 16 I didnt take much notice.

Im taking notice now though!!!!!!!!!
