Skytag placement query??
Hi there,

Having just purchased a Skytag unit from a Forum sponsor , I have read the instructions that are supplied with it and......

It says to place it somewhere , where it is effectively trying to mimick it " looking straight through a window"
I assume it just means minimal interference or material to pass through?

So my question is, can it basically go any where, or does it need to be hidden by the thinnest panel possible , will it transmit though metal just as it would plastic?
Should it really be near the upper section of the vehicle. Or buried deep within?

I appreciate I cant , and am not asking for specific locations to be mentioned on a public forum, I am just trying to determine how stealthy I can be with it , or is this limited to a location based on minimal density materials in the way etc?

Any help much appreciated as I am going to be fitting it this weekend.

Many thanks,
Nick Thumbs Up

Any location that doesn't have a very thick density or overly contained.
I.e. Not under the battery for example.

Out of interest as I dont have one ... Does the Skytag not have the ability to take a remote GPS receiver?

So box could be anywhere but the GPS receiver somewhere more suited to picking up signal?

Thank you for your order.

If you take a look at the Skytag website you'll see that they successfully tracked vehicles that were below decks on a cross channel ferry Shocked

However we have tried installing units under the battery and the coverage was 'patchy'.

They will work through Puma dash boards, under seats, through roof skins etc.

If you are unsure of your desired location try fitting the unit 'temporarily' on a long 'fly lead' and then phone up Skytag and ask them to test pick up

I don't think the unit can be used with a separate receiver, a call to Skytag will answer your question
