IIRC the seal is made when the pipes are joined together, with one sitting inside the other, not on the actual flange that the bolts go through. It'll be obvious if this is the case because the pipe will extend beyond the bolt flange. Tom

Yeah the pipe does extend beyond the flange,i just thought the flanges would be closer (or fit flush) than they are,I've used sealant anyways,cheers bud . Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

the joint will be tapered to seal

/\/\/\,yeah tapered, just thort the flanges would sit closer together fyi, I used Blo seal,about 5 delivered off Amazon. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

used blo seal for years never had a problem with it
