This 'electronic service portfolio' has been standard across the rest of the range since 13MY. In fact, I'm pretty sure 2014MY Defenders didn't have one either? An engine to TDi for!

Sounds like that is an anti-competitive practice LR should supply the service portfolio booklets unless they allow Indys access to their electronic service system |

Very much so Steve
I know 13MY RR 405's are on the same system, but who would want to have that serviced outside the dealer network, let alone own it when out of warranty !!! I won't California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1 Main Brian James Trailer Dealer for South West UK |

Hi all
My MY14 didn't come with a paper service record book, when I asked the local dealer I was also told that everything was going to be held electronically. I managed to get hold of a service record book for £15, now stamped by local LR indi. I do agree with Bpman, it appeas that they are forcing you to use their system. Same in Aus for my MY13.
And, I was told that this computerised record can only be accessed/ viewd by a Dealer. So, Topix?..what is that, & how would I gain entry to it?...Any cost involved, or special "code" etc? Pickles. |

TOPIx is Land Rovers information system for manuals, tech bulletins and the build spec for your truck etc. Parts of it are free but some require a fee to gain access. Information on the site and registration is at http://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/vehicle/lookupForm

Very much so Steve, and under euro ruling, owners have that choice, even when under the manufacturers warranty,, But, bar for actual invoices, you will have no service history to show when routine servicing have been done Thin end of another wedge Anyone with a 13MY Defender actually got any service history to show, ? Only got my invoice which shows brief details of what's been done. The "computerised record" is only available to dealers,....you cannot access it yourself, but you can via a dealer.
I'd prefer a booklet, but as they say, "that's progress"! Pickles. |

Seems to me a customer should, at the very least, have the right to request a printed copy of said 'Computerised Record' - for our own personal records...

But..... 3 years down the line when the vehicle is on its second or 3rd owner, and the handbooks have gone AWOL, it would make it easier to go to your dealer and get a printout of *any* vehicle you might be buying to see if it's been serviced.
I'm sure they'd print you out a copy too. |

Probably Jim, if you are buying it from them...
Not so sure how you'd go about it if it was a non-franchised dealer, or a private sale though... Would be good if LR added the Service History to your print-out facilities, instead of just last service recorded, as this seems an easy fix?... Click image to enlarge Rog... The GREEN One...
