Hi guys,
a couple of people have recommended that doing an 'injector learn' or 'code' is worthwhile, as my 2.4 is sounding a little bit noisy under load but is otherwise running sweet as a whistle. I've also heard people mention making sure that the latest ECU software/update is installed? however i have a remap currently installed. (CSK) Can i have either the coding or the update done without affecting the remap? What would i expect to pay a LR dealer to do either of these? Should i tell them about the remap (out of warranty now)? cheers, David Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Anyone know anything? Will probably give dealer a ring tomorrow but would like to have a bit of info first.

The remap file is based on what version software the ECU is running so if the ECU software is updated to a newer version then it will overwrite the installed remap file. Even if you remove the remap file and the dealer updates the ECU software the original remap file will not load as the software version has changed. Easy enough to check what software version you are running (it may already be up to date) by plugging in the remap interface or a diagnostic tool. Personally I redo pilot correction and pump relearn when I update the ECU software and after I install a new remap file
Second line down is the software version installed on the ECU, BTW this is an old picture! Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Pretty sure an ECU update can't be done without affecting a remap, although I may be wrong.
Cost wise, just to plug in to the computer is about Ł120 at main dealers... An engine to TDi for! "Land Rover- Proudly turning drivers into mechanics since 1948" |

PM replied, cheers bga.
On another note, is there some good (Mac friendly) ECU/obd reading equipment that can do this myself? (i have an OBD2--USB cable). It'd be good to read fault codes, injector learn, check updates etc., or is there nothing really between the cheap OBD apps and the more serious (read: expensive) dedicated diagnostic software. Sounds to me like a remap issue or the remap has pronounced it
We always chech to see if the vehicle is on the latest software before remapping ? Was this not done ? You need the remapper to tweak / check the settings, for what it's worth recently mine has been a bit noisier too and running a little rougher but nothing really to omplain about.
Had an EGR code flagged once though. Again. My guess is that on mine. Have you got the EGR closed on the remap? If you had an Alive tune you could have two maps saved, LR and tuned. And swap between the two. |
