What tin tent do you have, Tillerman? I often feel as though i'd like on about that size and colour for the kids etc. The bright white ones the size of small houses that clog up the roads do not appeal. Any more shots of it hooked up to your Defender?

As we do spend a lot of time in and around the sea, here's a couple from earlier this week.

My answer is a bit OT for this thread, but since you've asked...... Wink here it is.

It is an Eriba Pan Familia Touring model of 1987 vintage. I don't know if you are familiar with the Eriba Touring series, but they consist of a cage made of steel tubing basically, which makes them really strong. See this video of the -now closed- production line in France:

Continuing as bits of text keep falling off my previous post:

They are not meant as serious off road caravans like those big heavy and expensive off road caravans made in South Africa and Australia, but the Eriba does a good job on bad roads, it won't fall apart. We put only soft stuff (clothing, towels etc) in the small overhead bins to prevent them from being shaken apart by the contents, and the hard items we keep in the Defender stowed in boxes. Works well for us.
If you plan to buy one, don't pick the smallest model which is called Puck, because that model doesn't have shock absorbers or any suspension; the tyres are the only means of taking up bumps. From the Pan series up they have shock absorbers and torsion suspension.

They are pricey as they are also cult, but they are very durable and keep their value. And they have kingsize bed, which is pure luxury when you are, lets say, well above your 40's.

Two pics: one hooked up and one when in camping configuration.

Tillerman.

I am heading back to the UK in December which will include a stint in Essex. Given the Safari-white colour of my Defender I feel it would only be appropriate to explore the fauna of this great expanse with a view to photographing the Defender near some of the local wild-life. I understand there are a lot of slightly feral, leopard-skinned animals in the area worth observing, which I am led to believe I would most likely see 'at play' (or during a feeding frenzy at the expense of the male of the species), on a Friday night. I am sure it will make for some fantastic 'scenic shots'. Monsieur Le Grenadier
