Hi all,
Well it's the moment I bet many of you thought would never happen - there is now a smartphone/mobile version of the forum Click image to enlarge You can switch to it from the black bar at the top of the page which appears when you are viewing on a mobile, or click here It is still early days, and I had wanted to get it finished before releasing to you, however I now think it's better to get people to try it and give feedback about what is good, bad, ugly or otherwise. The basic forum functionality is there, however the following are currently missing:
Some or none of these may never make the mobile site, it depends how necessary they are when on a small screen So, if you have a smartphone, please, please try the mobile site and reply with feedback here. There will be plenty wrong, so please don't hesitate to report an issue, bug or improvement - I will read all reports and attempt to implement everything wherever possible. If you need to switch back to the normal site, it is available from the menu icon (top left), then "Desktop Site". A link to reply to this thread is also available in the menu as "Send Feedback". 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW Last edited by Martin on 17th Oct 2014 8:47am. Edited 1 time in total |

Samsung Galaxy S5. Android 4.4.2 OS
The site loads fine but when I tap the menu button the menu displays over the left hand column of topics and is not greyed out as in the picture. All the links work fine though. |

Certainly seems to work flawlessly so far on my iPhone 6...
I will check it out a bit more scientifically after the day job... Although I am not convinced it is better than using the full site on current mobile tech tbh... Thanks a lot for providing us the opportunity to test it out and provide development feedback though Martin... Rog... The GREEN One... Hello Martin
Looks good, and also appears to work really well too (Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4) I also get the thread being viewed as a 'ghosted page' under the 'main topics menu' drop down when used, but don't mind it, as it's so faint, and reminds you where your were if you want to return to it by touching the 'menu' button again. Great not to have to zoom in and out all the time when mobile... the snap to 'large' image (fitting the screen) feature is also good. Will give this a proper 'road test' later, but thanks... That's what you should see, although the blue buttons at the button should be completely covered - I will have to tweak. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Just tried opening the menu on a thread page rather than the topics page and and the menu displays as your photo, it appears that the menu on my phone only displays as per my photo on the topic page if that is any help.

Hi Martin - I have noticed that selecting a thread to view takes one to the OP each time... Unless I am missing it completely, I cannot see an option for going directly to the last post, or even switching to the last and intervening pages... Which is rather a nuisance especially for long/er threads... Rog... The GREEN One... MY2016 Urban Truck Build Thread - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40548....al[/color] |

There are page navigation buttons and drop-downs if you scroll to the bottom. Orange next/previous buttons, and click the "Page x of n" drop-down to pick any page.
Jumping to the last post, or last unread post, is something I need to work out how to find room for in the space available. Martin 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Understand that Martin, but it can still be rather long-winded...
Take the 'Hello' thread where there are 152 pages as an example... Surely it would be better to make the landing page be the last, which is where most of us, I assume, want to be when checking in on threads we are watching... I know it is probably a bit early to start pointing out such nice to have additions, especially when you are really looking for buglets and problems... Rog... The GREEN One... working great on my iPhone.
Maybe my preference - but a couple of points up on the font size or bolder or just a bit more contrast somehow ? Would make the text easier for me to read. Delighted though. |
