iPad Ram mount - fussy wife, bigger balls?
Done a search, so sorry if this repeats...

Rolling Eyes Wifey wants her iPad2 to play with on long trips but doesn't like the (perfectly adequate) grab handle, screen sucker or seat rail options.

Only alternative seems to be the metal at the front of "her" Nak. glove box. Please can anyone tell me exactly which Ram parts I need? Does it make sense to go for bigger balls (pfnaah pfnaah), as I want it to be secure enough to mount a MacBook sometimes too?

Ram B 1" ball system is more then adequate for an iPad! Barbara is more then happy with the iPad on the passenger grab handle.

If her complaint is that she has to reach forward then just replaced the arm with a longer one.

If she is worried about rigidity go for the 1.5" ball RAM/RAM C ball

Would I fit an iPad on the front of a Nakatanenga glove box? NO! reason being the bottom is held on by small screws into plastic. Would I want an iPad cantilever out from the front of the bottom section of the glove box? NO I would be concerned that the weight of the iPad cantilevered out on rough roads would be too much for the screws.


IF she wants something solid I would suggest something like



However that is £131!

We have used the RAM mount systems for years and are quite happy with the system, hence why we stock them!

Really pleased with the quality and the 1.5" ball is rock-solid. Wifey is also suitably impressed Thumbs Up

Could you please let me know the part number for the RAM grab rail clamp in your photo, as I've not been able to it track down myself.
The only one I've seen looks like a giant jubilee clip fitting Sad

I can't decide whether to opt for an Otterbox case + RAM Uni X-Grip II or Lifeproof Fre Case + Lifeproof Case Cradle (AMPS compatible) fitment.
Does anybody have experience of using either of these set-ups for an iPad Mini with retina display?
Are you using grab rail, seat rail, windscreen (sat low in front of clock?) or dash attachment?
I'm pleased with the navfree app that I've installed, but having the iPad sat on the passenger seat is going to end in tears sooner or later!!! '57 Defender 110 XS Station Wagon 2.4tdci

id rip off the little rubber 'nipples' in the middle as we are all punning and glue them in with super glue or something sturdier.

Have lost both of mine and now have to wedge a receipt in between ipad and holder to stop the rattle. ===================================

It's a bit overkill but I use it for a big laptop too.

If you go for a more lightweight version you can screw a ball onto the handrail, as shown here:
