Sound proofing
Hey everyone

Any advice on improving the sound proofing on a 90?

Looking at the silent coat?

Thanks all a bit new or this.

I'm doing mine in stages. I've used silent coat to do my front doors, rear tub, rear door and bonnet,
For the bonnet I got 10mm closed cell foam with a foil facing from Harrison Trim. It is not self adhesive, but is good value if you want to do a lot of coverage(I'm planning on doing the roof, sides and bulkhead so 8m2 will come in handy) http://www.harrisonstrimsupplies.co.uk/8m-...4043-p.asp
Each stage has made a difference to the ear, but because I haven't tackled the engine/gearbox noise the noise level on a meter hasn't changed.
I've just finished to bonnet, but haven't had time to write it up on my blog yet - you can see details of the other bits though.
It seems the bulkhead and gearbox tunnel are the biggest sources of cabin noise, so I'm leaving these until last so I get the biggest change in noise - plus I've a couple of other projects that require the dash to come out that I'd like to do at the same time.

Do a search under 'Dynamat' there are loads of hints and tips etc. in the 169 threads available. The search facility is under the banner at the top of the page between PMs which you will soon be able to use and Members one of which you already are.

Wheel boxes in the back are a good place to tackle. I have covered them in skinz its a bit like dynomat then plywood over the top (mines a hardtop) cut down a lot of road noise from the back. 110 Hardtop
