I've done a bit of personalising; steering wheel, glove box, steering guard, but the bit I'm most proud of took about 30's to attach. Its may dads 1960 AA membership badge which were on all his cars until the early 1980's. He stopped bolting it on when cars stopped having traditional radiator grills (Fiat strada, Citroen BX etc). Sadly he died a few months ago so it seemed appropriate to put it on a vehicle that has still got a radiator grill. The Ford pic below is c1962/3.

When We lived in the UK in the fifties, We had a 1936 Austin 10 which my Mum drove, and we were a member of the AA, ......We had one of those badges on the front of our car. Mum always said that the AA was "superior"!!, to the RAC.

Had a look on the bonnet badge and it says Consul, and used the link from K9F and found: 'Introduced in September 1962 as the Consul Cortina, It was available as a two-door four/five seater saloon in either standard or deluxe forms.' You learn something every day. Like the badge on the series, looks more at home. Also, I hope no-one takes a liking to it and removes it, its value is sentimental really. Steve |

I'd consider fitting it on the dash perhaps in lieu of the tax disc. At least it may be a little more secure? (Perhaps not in a Defender? ) If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |
