Cost of maintenance
Hi folks,

How much should I expect to pay an Indipendant garage to replace both my lower swivel seals?

Any guidance would be welcomed.

Cheers

If you've a Puma follow the link below to all you need workshop manual, wiring diagrams etc. and if you've the time or inclination give it a go....you might surprise yourself. Alternatively find a mate with the technical acumen, cross his palm with silver and let him do it?

Quick fix......

yep outer seal has gone. wouldn't be a problem for your trip i wouldn't of thought. you can always top them up with EP90 or more grease.

easiest way to change the seal for a quick fix is do it all insitu just cut the new seal prior to fitting to get it around the axle and then put the cut section at the top. 30mins

longer was - just remove caliper, undo the 7(?) bolts holding the whole wheel station onto the axle, remove wheel station with shaft still attached. place on bench and remove metal seal guard, then seal, then replace all. an hour or 90mins

even longer way - go on the from the outside edge and remove hub etc etc.

Or ring another Independant and if the quote is the same you'll just have to shell out the £400. Price sounds about right to me, I was quoted £124 for one to be done in 2010.

Thanks K9F for taking the time to respond. I trust the garage to do a great job, just wanted a second opinion. Booked it in for 30th September.

Cheers
