Maybe, but at least he will be happy that he's getting the most miles per gallon he'll ever get. Its just unfortunate that it will be being towed at the time Whistle

Amazing economies can be achieved by removing the floor panels:

Just wait for the inevitable multi page "how do I remove the floor screws" thread Rolling with laughter Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.
Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW.

[Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc]

Plagiarised and adapted.......

I’ve often wondered about the most discomforting element in our lives as human beings. I’ve come up with plenty of answers, ranging from corruption and greed to endless jealousy and malice. But the more I think about it, the more I realize that it’s not any of these.

It’s boredom – a concrete wall of nothingness that stands between us and our goals, between us and the soul.

The frequency at which all the wondrous homo sapiens in our universe blandly utter “I’m bored” is unbelievably high. And what’s more? Most of these people who are ostensibly ‘bored’ are teenagers and young adults and Defender2 forum members relentlessly subjected to MPG threads. The phrase ‘Get a life’ or 'buy a Eurobox' seems to have become quite applicable here. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

I get 300 miles per tank from my 110 Tdci
I got 300 miles per tank from my 90 Td5

Exactly the same type of trips, the Tdci is just worst on fuel if worked, the only time the Tdci gets better mpg is sitting on the motorway at 70-75.

I usually reckon on between 370 and 400 miles from filling to the point where the nozzle clicks off to the warning light coming on, if I run it that low.

That's on a 2007 2.4 Defender 110 DC with BAS remap and no EGR, on 285/75 KM2s, with generally long runs at national speed limits on the whole, laden to around 2 to 2.5 tonnes, sometimes with a trailer.

The only way I could get over 500 from a tank would be if the Defender was on a trailer pulled by something else!

Brendan, two possibilities here.....

1. That would be thanks to one or more extra fuel tanks you have installed, in which case accept your statement for face value.

2. But if above point 1 is not the case...............

You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

smb, same goes for your above pretensions as for Brendan's.... Two possibilities

1. You have added an extra fuel tank, albeit a smaller one than Brendan, in which case accept what you say here at face value

2. But if that is not the case..............

Eric, that is right...aux tank. God knows why people are bothered on mpg when its a Defender. I get 26 on a bad run and 29 on a good run and thats loaded with weight. Couldn't be ar5ed which I get as long as I get to where I want to go without having to fill up at motorway services. Plus it gives me a greater range to find cheaper fuel which in the UK can be as much as 20p/ltr.

^^ I think, and i say I think, that my fuel consumption is around 11L/100KM. I happily leave it to Caterham to convert that to mpg. Laughing
I never ever monitored my consumption, but drive pretty light footed, and only with premium fuel as you can see from my avatar I am strongly believing is best for my Puma engine, surely trust this more than Caterham's last experiment of pushing home brewed bio moonshine through his common rail system. Rolling Eyes
I see Caterham's next thread already appearing.... Could it be that I am going to have a injection problem from using home filtered used fish and chips oil in my fuel efficient Defender.
