It could have been a fire hazard, but not any more, the wires were disconnected at the plug and sealed, so there's no chance of anything getting through.

What amazes me is to think that the wires should be absolutely fine if they were terminated correctly.
Just a simple J loop with an electrical tape flag on it would be enough to keep them safe.
Don't get me wrong it's fused anyway but it's not something that should happen at all in the first place.
A fuse is a safety device if the worst comes to the worst and a short occurs"
Without them the wire would pretty much weld it's self on to metal, turn red hot and melt it's insulation off and then probably ignite along with anything in the vicinity.

Yes, your right, obviously my landy wasn't inspected as well as it should have been when it left the factory!!
